  • Patent number: 9429172
Abstract: A telescopic position adjustment mechanism allows for a telescoping element to be indexed by fixed increments toward a more telescopically collapsed position, relative to its base. The telescopic position adjustment mechanism uses a stepping reservoir that can, in a stepping configuration, selectively receive a predetermined volume of fluid from a support reservoir that supports the telescoping element against the base, enabling the telescoping element to collapse toward the base by a distance corresponding to the predetermined volume of fluid. In a locking configuration, the volume of fluid in the support reservoir is constant and the telescopic position is fixed, and in a free movement configuration fluid can flow freely between the support reservoir and a sink reservoir to permit free telescopic movement. A rotation resistance mechanism uses a locking key that is biased into engagement with a locking channel to inhibit rotation of the telescoping element relative to the base.

  • Patent number: 9429200
Abstract: A dual clutch transmission (DCT) control method for a vehicle mounted with a DCT, which is not provided with an output shaft speed sensor, when a wheel speed sensor has failed, or the information cannot be controlled in a situation where shift gears are not coupled, properly couples the shift gears while preventing a clutch burst, and thus a controller can control DCT by calculating an output shaft speed of DCT.

  • Patent number: 9429205
Abstract: Unbonded fiber reinforced elastomeric isolators (FREIs) have desirable characteristics for seismic isolation, but the unbonded application also introduces several design limitations in comparison to bonded elastomeric isolators. Unbonded FREIs are not capable of resisting tensile forces, making this type of isolator inappropriate for situation where overturning is of concern or regions where large vertical accelerations are anticipated. Furthermore, since unbonded FREIs rely on friction to transfer horizontal forces, permanent slip could occur. Concerns over both transfer of tensile forces and permanent displacement can be obviated by partially bonding the FREI to the supports. In this way, partially bonded FREIs (PB-FREIs) retain the beneficial characteristics of an unbonded FREI, but also demonstrate characteristics of a bonded isolator, notably tensile forces can be transferred and potential permanent displacement is inhibited.

  • Patent number: 9429206
Abstract: A mountable attachment for positioning a sensor in an environment, like a combustion chamber of a gas turbine is disclosed. The mountable attachment includes a mounting member having a hollow elongated configuration for incorporating the sensor therewithin. The attachment further includes at least one primary resilient member disposed within the mounting member in a coordinating manner with the sensor for applying an axially outward force on the mounting member to prevent thereto from loosening from a counterpart , and providing a mounting torque for mounting the sensor at a target position within the environment . The attachment may also include additional resilient member, such as a secondary resilient member, which may in combination with the primary resilient members attain a resulting mounting force to prevent the mounting member from loosening from the counterpart.

  • Patent number: 9429207
Abstract: A steel base material (11) is subjected to a quenching step, a machining step, a plating step, and a tempering step to form a rod (4). In the quenching step, two axially spaced portions of the steel base material are quenched to form quenched portions (12 and 13). In the machining step, plastic working or cutting is performed on a portion of the steel base material between the two quenched portions to form a full-circumferential groove (4C1) in a machined portion 4C. In the plating step, the quenched portion (12) is not plated, but a region of the steel base material including the quenched portion (13) is plated to form a coating layer (16). In the tempering step, the quenched portions are tempered.
