Abstract: A method of operating a transmission includes measuring an output torque, estimating a gearbox input torque using a model, and estimating gearbox component torques based on a detailed gearbox model. The model used to estimate the input torque varies depending on whether a torque converter is locked, open, or slipping. In some operating conditions, multiple estimates are available for gearbox input torque, impeller torque, or shift element torque in which case the models are adapted. When an estimated component torque is outside an expected range, a warning flag is raised and diagnostic data is saved. When an estimated torque approaches or exceeds a torque limit, the input torque command may be reduced to prevent component damage. Abstract: An automatic transmission uses 6 shift elements applied in combinations of four to establish ten forward speed ratios and a reverse speed ratio. The automatic transmission uses a hydraulic control system to control engagement of the six elements, control engagement of a torque converter bypass clutch, control engagement of a parking pawl, and to provide fluid for a hydrodynamic torque converter and for lubrication. The parking pawl is disengaged in response to engagement of two of the six shift elements and remains disengaged in response to engagement of other shift elements. A single valve controls several different functions associated with the two-pass torque converter. Pressurized fluid is provided by a variable displacement engine driven pump and also by an electric pump. A priority valve reduces lubrication flow when other fluid demands are high as indicated by the pump displacement control circuit.

Abstract: A sealing system for a well valve includes a valve closure, a valve closure carrier, and seal elements. The valve closure includes a central bore. The valve closure carrier includes an annular, metal sealing surface in contact with the exterior of the valve closure to form a metal-to-metal seal with the valve closure. The valve closure carrier defines two flow holes, each of which communicates with the central bore when the valve closure is open to flow fluid, and is sealed from the central bore by the sealing surface when the valve closure is closed. The first seal element seals between the valve closure carrier and the valve closure, and surrounds the first flow hole. The second seal element seals between the valve closure carrier and the valve closure, and surrounds the first seal element and an end opening of the central bore when the valve closure is closed.

The metal bonding ring is preferably bonded to and fully encapsulated within the annular elastomeric seal. The composite metal bonding ring and elastomeric seal is contained in an annular recess formed in the metal seat shield. The metal bonding ring is secured to the metal seat shield, thereby retaining the elastomeric seal within the annular recess of the metal seat shield. The metal bonding ring may include a plurality of support pads for engagement with an annular back wall of the metal seat shield.

Abstract: A modular stop is provided for ball valves, such as those used as drill stem safety valves. The modular stop can be a replaceable component in valves for use with stems used to rotate a ball valve in the valve's body. The modular stop can bear the wear associated with the operation of ball valves and when the modular stop has exceeded its usable service life, it can be replaced without replacing the whole of the valve body. The modular stop can be used in new valve manufacture as well as in the retrofitting or remanufacturing of existing valves.

A moveable is moveable within the bore between a first position against the first valve seat and a second position against the second valve seat to control the flow of fluid from either of the first or second inlet to the outlet. The moveable member may be configured to have a unitary construction formed of a single component, by which a unitary shell defines a substantially hollow interior. The moveable member has a hollow interior and a weep hole for equalizing pressure between the hollow interior and exterior of the moveable member.
