    Abstract: A first ion rich dielectric substrate with a patterned dielectric barrier and a oxidizable metal layer is anodically bonded to a second ion rich dielectric substrate. To bond the substrates, the oxidizable metal layer is oxidized. The dielectric barrier may inhibit the migration of these ions to the bondline, which might otherwise poison the bond strength. Accordingly, when joining the two substrates, a strong bond is maintained between the wafers.

    Abstract: A manufacturing method for a MEMS element, by which both a microphone including a microphone capacitor and a pressure sensor including a measuring capacitor are implemented in the MEMS structure. The components of the microphone and pressure sensor are formed in parallel but independently in the layers of the MEMS structure. The pressure sensor diaphragm is structured from a first layer, which functions as a base layer for the microphone diaphragm. The fixed counter-electrode of the measuring capacitor is structured from an electrically conductive second layer which functions as a diaphragm layer of the microphone. The fixed pressure sensor counter-element is structured from third and fourth layers. The third layer functions in the area of the microphone structure as a sacrificial layer, the thickness of which in the area of the microphone structure determines the electrode distance of the microphone capacitor. The microphone counter-element is structured from the fourth layer.

    Abstract: This invention relates to the field of silicon microphone technology, more specifically, to a method for fabricating a MEMS microphone using multi-cavity SOT wafer by Si-Si fusion bonding technology, which comprises a multi-cavity silicon backplate and a monocrystalline silicon diaphragm, both are separated with a layer of silicon dioxide to form the capacitor of the MEMS microphone. The monocrystalline silicon diaphragm has advantages such as low residual stress and good uniformity, which increase the yield and sensitivity of MEMS silicon microphone; the diaphragm comprises tiny release-assistant holes, spring structures with anchors and bumps which can quickly release the residual stress and reduce the probability of stiction between the backplate and the silicon diaphragm. This structure will further improve yield and reliability of MEMS microphone.

A sacrificial release layer and a functional device layer are formed on a substrate.     Abstract: A reactor and process for production of hydrogen gas from a carbon-containing fuel in a reaction that generates carbon dioxide is described. The carbon-containing fuel can be, for example, carbon monoxide, alcohols, oxygenates bio-oil, oil and hydrocarbons. In preferred embodiments, the reactor includes a monolithic structure form with an array of parallel flow channels. Methods of using the reactor are also described. In the reactor apparatus of the present invention, the catalytic reaction for hydrogen formation is conducted in conjunction with a carbonation reaction that removes carbon dioxide that is produced by the reactor. The carbonation reaction involves reaction of the carbon dioxide produced from the hydrogen formation reaction with metal oxide-based sorbents. The reactor apparatus can be periodically regenerated by regeneration of the sorbent. A carbon dioxide sorbent system comprising a solid sorbent and a eutectic, mixed alkali metal molten phase is also described.

    Abstract: Polyhexahydrotriazine (PHT) and polyhemiaminal (PHA) materials form highly cross-linked polymers which can be used as binder resins in composite materials. A filler element functionalized with a primary amine group can be covalently bonded to the PHA/PHT polymer resins. Example filler elements include, without limitation, carbon nanotubes, silica materials, carbon and glass fibers, and nanoparticles. Filler materials are incorporated into polymeric materials to improve the mechanical strength or other characteristics of the polymeric material for various applications. Typical composite materials use thermosetting materials that, once set, are intractable. PHT and PHA materials can be reverted to starting materials by exposure to acids. Thus, composite components formed using these materials are recyclable.
