Abstract: A wind turbine for residential lots has a lower stationary inner tube supporting an upper outer tube rotatable about the inner tube. The upper tube supports a shaft supporting a generator, series of angled wide-width blades producing increased torque, and an elongated high-angled nose cone deflecting wind to an outer blades area increasing effective wind-speed providing power output of a turbine of about 120-130 feet; a second section of upper tube supporting a hinged-tail having a pivotable solid planar section hingedly attached to an open planar section fixedly attached to the upper tube; a computer-controlled actuator causing solid planar section to pivot into the wind at a pre-determined setting causing the upper tube to rotate turning the blade's plane of rotation out of the wind reducing their rotational velocity eliminating overheating of the generator providing for it to continue producing power in winds greater than 60 mph.

  • Publication number: 20160305402
Abstract: The invention relates to a control apparatus and method for controlling the rotor blades of a wind turbine, and in particular to controlling the rotor blades during an extreme wind event. An extended mode of operation of the wind turbine rotor beyond the cut-out wind speed is provided. In the extended mode of operation, the pitch of the wind turbine blades is actively controlled so that the rotor and the generator idle at a designated rotational speed. The rotational speed may be relatively high, say 15 to 20% of the nominal speed, compared with minimal speeds experienced by purely feathered wind turbine blades, and may be further controlled as a function of the incident wind speed. Output power control in the extended mode may be zero but is preferably a low, but non-zero value. The output power so produced may then be used as an auxiliary power source for controlling the wind turbine in situations where the utility grid fails.

  • Publication number: 20160305404
Abstract: A method to control the operation of a wind turbine is provided. Wind-related values as well as these operating parameters of the wind turbine are measured: electrical output power, parameters of the rotating blade-system, accelerations and thrusts, which are impacting on wind turbine components. The measured values are used to generate respective time-based statistics. The statistics are used to estimate at least one of these loads: tower bending moment, blade bending moment and/or tower yawing moment. The estimated loads are compared with load threshold values, which are pre-determined for the given type of the wind turbine. The operation of the wind turbine is controlled in a way that, taking into account the load estimations, respective loads are reduced.

Abstract: A pinion of an output portion meshes with a ring gear of a wind turbine. A first friction plate is coupled to an output shaft of an electric motor at an end of the output shaft situated further from a speed reducer. A second friction plate contacts with the first friction plate and serves as a brake on the output shaft. Elastic members bias the second friction plate toward the first friction plate. Electromagnet biases the second friction plate in the direction in which the second friction plate is separated from the first friction plate. A detector detects a position and a displacement of a detection target portion fixed on the second friction plate. Abstract: Mixed concrete is pumped under pressure along a primary flow path to a typically lengthy supply line. In the event a clog, blockage or other supply line concern is detected, a branch conduit in communication with the primary flow path permits a portion or all of the pressurized flow to pass through a diverter valve and a recirculation conduit back into an open-to-atmosphere reservoir or hopper from which the concrete originally was pumped. The recirculation system of this invention permits supply line pressure to be safely regulated, diminished, relieved and jogged, all without there being any need to discharge or waste valuable mixed concrete, and without having to dangerously open one or more connections of a pressurized supply line.

A second chamber may have a second valve member to control fluid moving into a third chamber. A first fluid passageway may link the first and second chambers, a second passageway may link second and third chambers and a third passageway may link third and fourth chambers. After pressurizing the third chamber causing fluid to flow into and leave a fourth chamber, the third chamber depressurizes due to downward movement of a plunger. Upon depressurization with a solenoid coil energized, second valve member floats and then moves against a valve seat. While the second valve member is moving toward the valve seat, the solenoid coil is de-energized causing the first valve member to move and strike the second valve member when the second valve member is moving at maximum velocity.

Abstract: A centrifugal multiblade blower includes: an electric motor; and an impeller blowing off air outward in a radial direction by being rotated by the electric motor. A main plate of the impeller has an uneven part on one surface adjacent to the electric motor in a thickness direction of the main plate. The one surface is in contact with air passing through inside of the electric motor. A surface shape of the uneven part is formed in manner that, among a whole surface of the uneven part, a total surface area of a surface facing inward in a radial direction of the motor is larger than an imaginary smooth surface on which the surface shape of the uneven part is defined to be a smooth surface without the uneven part.

Such control may be done independently of the rotational speed of the impeller to tailor pump operation to a particular NPSH, efficiency, fluid flow or related requirement. In one preferred form, the impeller and diffuser are made to counter-rotate relative to one another, while the independent rotational speed of each may be provided by one or more motors, as well as a variable-speed transmission coupled to such motor or motors.
