Publication number: 20160332301Abstract: Proposed is a method of handling and transporting flat objects such as semiconductor wafers or wafer substrates on a robotic station by means of a robot assembly equipped with a dual-gripper end effector. Since the end effector has two independently operating flat-object grippers which are arranged at an angle, e.g., of 90° to each other and which are rotatable simultaneously around a common axis of rotation, it becomes possible to hold two flat objects alternatively in two different planes and to exclude a big swing of the robot arm in the same plane. This allows manipulation with the flat objects in a small space. While one of the objects is being placed into a processing unit by one of the grippers, another wafer is held in a waiting position by the second gripper so that after the first wafer is loaded into an appropriate unit, the second wafer can be quickly turned into the working position and the first gripper into the waiting position.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 13, 2015Publication date: November 17, 2016Inventor: Boris Kesil

Publication number: 20160332308Abstract: The present invention provides a capture mechanism for capturing and locking onto the Marman flange located on the exterior surfaces of spacecraft/satellites. The capture mechanism achieves its goal of quickly capturing a target spacecraft by splitting the two basic actions involved into two separate mechanisms. One mechanism performs the quick grasp of the target while the other mechanism rigidises that grasp to ensure that the target is held as firmly as desired. To achieve a speedy grasp, the grasping action is powered by springs and an over-centre mechanism triggered either mechanically by a plunger or electronically by sensors and a solenoid. This forces two sets of jaws, one on either side of the object to be grasped, to close quickly over the target object. The jaws can be set up to grasp gently, firmly, or even not close completely on the target. The key is that they must close tightly enough so that the protrusions on the target cannot escape from the jaws due to any possible motions of the target.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 25, 2016Publication date: November 17, 2016Inventors: Paul ROBERTS, Jason WHITE, Steve FISHER, Richard REMBALA

Publication number: 20160332339Abstract: Preforms for use in molding composite parts are made directly from composite chips that are composed of fibers and an uncured thermosetting resin. Cold composite chips are formed into a stream of non-agglomerating chips that is used to fill the cavity of a preform tool. The non-agglomerating chips flow into the preform tool cavity to form a population of non-cohesive composite chips. The non-cohesive composite chips are then heated to form a preform made up of a consolidated population of cohesive composite chips in which the non-sticky uncured thermosetting resin of the non-cohesive chips has been converted to a sticky uncured thermosetting resin.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 13, 2015Publication date: November 17, 2016Inventor: Bruno Boursier

Publication number: 20160332342Abstract: In a method for determining at least one parameter for the description of the compression behavior of a material processed in a molding machine, at least a part of the processed material is introduced into a mold cavity via a distribution system and a gate, and the processed material solidifies in the mold cavity. A compression test is performed in which a volume storing the material is modified and a measurement of the resulting pressure modification is conducted or a pressure applied onto the material is modified and a measurement of the resulting modification of the volume is conducted. A parameter for the description of the compression behavior is calculated based on the result of the compression test by using a mathematical model. The compression test is conducted when the gate is at least substantially solidified or when the hot runner is closed.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 9, 2016Publication date: November 17, 2016Inventors: Georg PILLWEIN, Ruth MARKUT-KOHL

Publication number: 20160332344Abstract: The invention relates to a process for the production of prefoamed poly(meth)acrylimide (P(M)I) particles which can be further processed to give foam mouldings or composites. A feature of this process is that a polymer granulate is first heated and thus prefoamed in an apparatus by means of IR radiation of a wavelength suitable for this purpose. Said granulate can be further processed in subsequent steps, e.g. in a press mould with foaming to give a moulding or a composite workpiece with foam core.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 3, 2014Publication date: November 17, 2016Applicant: EVONIK ROEHM GMBHInventors: Kay BERNHARD, Ina LIEBL, Denis HOLLEYN, Christoph SEIPEL

Publication number: 20160332346Abstract: An injection molded product formed from an inner layer, or substrate, to which an aesthetic IMD layer is bonded during a first injection molding process, leaving a portion of the substrate exposed about the perimeter(s) of the substrate. A transparent outer layer, or overmold, is then injection molded over the top of the IMD layer and substrate, bonding substantially to the IMD layer and to the substrate where it remains exposed following the first injection molding. The process of forming a product through the disclosed two-step injection molding process creates a customizable, aesthetic product with an aesthetic IMD layer completely encapsulated between the substrate and a clear overmold in such a way to protect the IMD layer from the environment in which the product is used.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 26, 2016Publication date: November 17, 2016Inventor: Timothy P.
