  • Patent number: 9499153
Abstract: The invention relates to a method and device for changing from a coasting or free-rolling mode of a motor vehicle with an internal combustion engine and an automatic clutch, which is disengaged during the coasting or free-rolling mode, to a fuel cut-off mode, in which the clutch is engaged, wherein before engagement of the clutch the internal combustion engine is brought to a revolution rate at which the engagement of the clutch induces no or only small changes in revolution rate in the drive train, and whereby the fuel supply to the internal combustion engine is reduced following engagement of the clutch. Under one or more predetermined conditions the increase of the drag torque of the internal combustion engine acting on the motor vehicle during the changeover from coasting or free-rolling mode to fuel cut-off mode takes place so slowly that the change is not usually noticed by the driver.

  • Patent number: 9499158
Abstract: When a drive shaft (37) is driven while the operation of an engine (36) is stopped, the rotation of an input-side rotor (28) is restricted by the engagement of a brake. Further, on the basis of the temperature Temp_SR of a brush (96) acquired by a temperature sensor (97), the distribution of torque Tcoup acting between the input-side rotor (28) and the first output-side rotor (18) and torque Tmg acting between the stator (16) and the second output-side rotor (19) is controlled. Consequently, drive performance when the drive shaft (37) is driven while the operation of the engine (36) is stopped is improved while local overheating of a slip ring (95) is prevented.

  • Patent number: 9499159
Abstract: A vehicle control apparatus uses a travel mode selection unit to select between an EV travel mode, an engine travel mode, and an engine generation mode depending on comparisons between an engine generated power cost, an EV effect, and a surplus electric energy. In such manner, according to a travel condition of a vehicle, an appropriate travel mode is selected for an improvement of fuel consumption efficiency. The vehicle control apparatus also computes a fuel consumption decrease or a fuel consumption increase for each of a plurality of travel modes based on an engine efficiency and an MG-INV efficiency. • Patent number: 9499160
Abstract: A control unit for a hybrid vehicle determines whether warming of an engine is insufficient in an outside electric power feed mode. When the warming of the engine is insufficient, it is determined whether current time is in an initial period of electric power feed. When the current time is in the initial period of the electric power feed, only electric power of an electric storage device is supplied to the outside in a state that the engine is off. When the current time is not in the initial period of the electric power feed, the engine is turned on, and only electric power generated in a motor is supplied to the outside. When the warming of the engine is sufficient, the electric power generated in the motor, the electric power of the electric storage device, or both of them are supplied to the outside.

Abstract: A method for stopping a train at a range of predetermined positions, first acquires a measured state of the trains, and then updates, in a parameter estimator, estimates of unknown parameters and a reliability of the unknown parameters, based on a comparison of a predicted state of the train with the measured state of the train. An excitation input sequence reference generator acquires dynamics of the train to determine a sequence of excitation inputs based on a current estimate of system parameters, the measured state of the train, and a set of constraints on an operation of the train. A model predictive controller (MPC) receives a control-oriented cost function, a set of constraints, the sequence of excitation inputs, the estimate of the unknown parameters and the reliability of the estimate of the unknown parameters to determine an input command for a traction-brake actuator of the train.

Abstract: A method for steering control of a vehicle having an actuator which turns steered wheels of the vehicle. The steering control method includes obtaining a location of a target point at a look-ahead distance away from the vehicle based on a maneuver the vehicle is performing, predicting a forward location of the vehicle at the look-ahead distance away from the vehicle, determining a distance between the location of the target point and the forward location, computing a normalized error by dividing the distance with the look-ahead distance, and determining a steering control command based on an integration of the normalized error. The actuator then turns the steered wheels of the vehicle according to the steering control command so as to steer the vehicle to perform various maneuvers.
