Abstract: A universal joint assembled to a drill string transfers torque between two components where rotation of the components may not be completely aligned. The universal joint includes upper and lower longitudinal members each connected to opposite sides of a bearing element. The elements are connected to the bearing element at spaced radial positions. As the joint rotates the bearing element flexes between the connections to accommodate misalignment of the elements. Axial force can be transferred through the bearing element as well as torque.

Abstract: A clutch comprising a pump is disclosed. The pump is operatively connected to the clutch such that a clutch slip event will cause the pump to delivery fluid from a fluid source to a region surrounding the friction plates of the clutch. The operation of the pump manages heat that is generated by the dynamic friction of the slipping clutch plates. The pump and associated fluid delivery methods are removably securable to an upstream end of an input shaft of the clutch. This allows the pump and associated fluid delivery methods to be used as modular components, that are easy to remove and replace for maintenance purposes, it also allows easier access to the internals of the clutch for maintenance.

The ball screw includes: a screw shaft having a helical ball rolling groove on an outer peripheral surface thereof; a nut having a helical loaded ball rolling groove facing the ball rolling groove, on an inner peripheral surface thereof; a circulating component where at least part of a return path connecting one end and the other end of the loaded ball rolling groove of the nut is formed; and a plurality of balls that can circulate. A contact portion that contacts the ball at two or more points is formed on an outer peripheral side of the return path of the circulating component. The contact portion of the circulating component is twisted in accordance with a change in the direction of a centrifugal force that acts on the ball.

Abstract: A transmission filter assembly utilizes a filter cartridge that slides axially with respect to the filter chamber. In normal operation, a spring pushes the filter cartridge into a position such that fluid flows into the interior of the cartridge, through filter media, and then radially out of the cartridge. If the pressure drop across the filter is excessive, the pressure forces the filter cartridge to slide to a position in which fluid bypasses the filter media. In this bypass mode, fluid does not flow into the interior of the cartridge and therefore has a very low tendency to dislodge previously captured contaminants. Two sets of tabs position the cartridge radially within the chamber. The two sets are separated axially to prevent tilting of the cartridge.
