The wire spacer (20) has first and second support segments (24, 26) providing a plate supporting function, and spacing segments (28) for maintaining a minimal vertical spacing (?y) between the heat transfer plates (2, 4) during heat exchanger operation. The first lower support segments (24) are formed by wire paths (32) that span a plane (S1) coinciding with a top surface of the lower heat transfer plate (2), and allow the wire spacer (20) to keep its orientation fixed with respect to the heat transfer plates.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 20, 2015Publication date: November 24, 2016Applicant: Apex International Holding B.V.Inventor: Mircea Dinulescu

Publication number: 20160341495Abstract: The present invention is directed to a manifold for directing cooling fluid and/or gas to a heat exchanger in a flow configuration designed to optimize heat transfer from the heat exchanger. The manifold can take many different forms such as a layered construction with distributed inlet paths, local outlet paths, a central collection changer and a path for fluid removal. The manifold can be formed from a metal, plastic, rubber, ceramic, or other heat resistant material known to or conceivable by one of skill in the art. The manifold can also be combined with any type of heat exchanger known to or conceivable by one of skill in the art to form a thermal management unit. To optimize overall properties such as low pressure drop, high heat transfer, and excellent temperature uniformity of the thermal management unit, the manifold can be graded, expanded and scaled as needed.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 23, 2016Publication date: November 24, 2016Inventors: Kevin J. Publication number: 20160341501Abstract: A short-length, belt fed machine gun for convenient use includes: (A) a receiver having a length in the range of about 17.75 inches to about 20.3 inches, (B) a barrel assembly, and (C) a gas cycling assembly. A gas port of the barrel assembly has a width of between about 0.063 inches and 0.200 inches. The distance between a center of the gas port and the breach of the barrel is between about 7.605 inches and about 9.395 inches. The gas cycling assembly features a unique polymer kinetic energy dampener assembly located longitudinally rearward of the operating rod, which is useful in achieving a desired cycle rate of the gun (e.g., about 600 rounds per minute (RPM)) and in minimizing muzzle climb. A unique mounting bushing selectively, removably mounts to the gas cylinder in order to achieve a shortened gun with many of the advantages of conventional longer weapons.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 17, 2016Publication date: November 24, 2016Inventors: John Kokinis, Paul Gettings, Daniel Fisher

Publication number: 20160341504Abstract: A light-weight firearm and related fabrication method are described for a wear resistant feed ramp for chambering cartridges from an ammunition magazine. In one embodiment, the firearm includes a barrel and a frame defining a magazine well and cartridge feed ramp. A wear insert formed of a different material than the frame is implanted in the feed ramp adjacent to the barrel chamber. The wear insert is then machined in situ to shape forming an obliquely angled wear surface. After machining, both the frame and implanted wear insert undergo a surface hardening process together. The surface hardened wear insert has a greater surface hardness than the surface hardened frame and is better adapted to resist wear after repeated chambering of rounds. In one non-limiting example, the frame may be hard anodized aluminum and the wear insert hard anodized titanium.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 16, 2016Publication date: November 24, 2016Inventor: Richard Mochak
