  • Patent number: 9554642
Abstract: A power-brush apparatus has a housing and a brush rotatable on the housing about a brush axis and having bristles extending generally radially of the axis and having tips defining on rotation of the brush a circular orbit centered on the axis. The tips are engageable at a location with a workpiece surface. In accordance with the invention a blocking element is positioned radially inside the orbit immediately upstream from the location in a normal rotation direction of the brush. A drive rotates the brush in a working direction about the axis relative to the housing at a predetermined angular speed in the direction and thereby orbits the tips of the bristles about the axis such that the bristles engage the blocking element, are slowed thereby, and when released thereby snap back to accelerate forward and strike the workpiece at an augmented speed.

  • Patent number: 9554680
Abstract: A cleaner head comprising a main body rotatably coupled to a neck, and a locking arrangement operable to permit rotation of the main body relative to the neck when the cleaner head is positioned on a surface and to prevent rotation of the body relative to the next when the cleaner head is lifted off a surface. The locking arrangement therefore stops the cleaner head from rotating undesirably when the cleaner head is lifted away from a cleaning surface.

  • Patent number: 9554682
Abstract: A vacuum cleaner (1) comprises an inlet (13), an outlet, a fan (14) for creating a flow of air through the vacuum cleaner (1) by drawing air to be cleaned through the inlet (13) into the vacuum cleaner (1) and by exhausting air through the outlet outwardly of the vacuum cleaner (1) and a separator (15, 41). The separator (15, 41) is rotatably arranged around an rotation axis (21), for creating, during use, a column of rotating air to separate at least a portion of the airborne particles (10) from the flow of air. The separator (15, 41) includes a number of vanes (25, 44) for the creation of the column of rotating air, wherein each vane (25, 44) is provided with a leading face (26) and a trailing face (27). The leading faces (26) of the vanes (25, 44) are inclined with respect to the rotation axis (21) for conveying the airborne particles (10) at least in an axial direction.

  • Patent number: 9554683
Abstract: A floor cleaning or burnishing machine has at least one motor controller that is electrically connected to an analog joystick control, right and left potentiometers, an electrical power source, and right and left electrical drive motors. The right motor is mechanically connected to a right rear steering drive wheel and the left motor is mechanically connected to a left rear steering drive wheel. Rotational speed and direction of each rear wheel is independently controlled, by way of the joystick in cooperation with respective potentiometers, in either a forward or reverse direction. At any given time, each potentiometer controls a respective motor controller which individually controls the rotational speed and direction of a respective wheel, thereby each wheel is capable of rotating in an opposite direction at a different speed to the other wheel. To slow the floor cleaning or burnishing machine down, regenerative braking is utilized by operating the motors as generators.
