Abstract: According to some aspects, a method of additive fabrication is provided wherein a plurality of layers of material are formed on a surface of a build platform, each layer of material being formed so as to contact a container in addition to the surface of the build platform and/or a previously formed layer of material. The method comprises forming a layer of material in contact with the container and in contact with a previously formed layer of material, and subsequent to the forming of the layer of the material, separating the layer of material from the container by simultaneously applying a first force to the layer of the material in a direction perpendicular to the surface of the build platform, and a second force to the layer of the material in a direction parallel to the surface of the build platform.

Abstract: Provided are composite feedstock strips for additive manufacturing and methods of forming such strips. A composite feedstock strip may include continuous unidirectional fibers extending parallel to each other and to the principal axis of the strip. This fiber continuity yields superior mechanical properties, such as the tensile strength along strip's principal axis. Composite feedstock strips may be fabricated by slitting a composite laminate in a direction parallel to the fibers. In some embodiments, the cross-sectional shape of the slit strips may be changed by reattributing material at least on the surface of the strips and/or by coating the slit strips with another material. This cross-sectional shape change may be performed without disturbing the continuous fibers within the strips. The cross-sectional distribution of fibers within the strips may be uneven with higher concentration of fibers near the principal axis of the strips, for example, to assist with additive manufacturing.

When there is an ingress of rubber of a green tire into each protrusion-forming recess, air inside the protrusion-forming recess is discharged through the through-hole vent and the minute amount of air remaining inside escapes to the non-through-hole vent. Each through-hole vent is set with a large capacity, enabling an ingress of rubber into the vent hole that will later become spew to be stopped inside the through-hole vent. Since the volume of air that is trapped inside the protrusion-forming recess is a minute amount, and so the volume of air that escapes into the non-through-hole vent is also a minute amount.

Abstract: The present invention is directed to a method forming a bottom-gusseted package, wherein each package includes an inwardly-extending, pleat-like gusset at the bottom of the package. To permit heat-sealing formation of each package, the sleeve from which each gusset is formed comprises a lamination of two differing polymeric materials, so that only an exterior surface of each sleeve exhibits the desired heat-sealing characteristics. To facilitate package formation, the sleeves from which the bottom gussets are formed are maintained in a temporarily closed or sealed configuration during package formation by providing a preferably frangible bond or seal at the edge of each sleeve. This result is preferably achieved by folding the laminate material, and temporarily sealing or joining an outer layer of the laminate material from which gusset is formed, while an inner layer is maintained in an unsealed condition.

Abstract: Methods and materials allow personalizing ceramic products such as coffee mugs, plates, vases, etc. by transferring an inkjet image to the surface of a ceramic object. According to embodiments of the invention, personalizing a ceramic object may include three elements: an image receptive layer that has been deposited on a ceramic object to form an image receptive surface, an inkjet image to be transferred, and control over the image transfer process. An inkjet image is printed on an image transfer sheet, which is then brought into contact with the image receptive surface of a ceramic object. The dyes comprising the image begin to migrate into the image receptive layer of the ceramic object under suitable conditions.
