Publication number: 20170057727Abstract: A composite barrier film has a base layer of polyester with a barrier layer modified polyvinyl amine (mPVA). The mPVA is polyvinyl alcohol/polyvinyl amine copolymer crosslinked with citric acid and an optional additional crosslinking agent such as epichlorohydrin. The barrier layer can be applied by deposition of a reactive aqueous solution onto the base layer, heating and drying to remove water and crosslink the reactants. Excellent barrier properties of the film are obtained by applying and crosslinking the barrier layer during the transverse stretching steps of a biaxial oriented polymer film continuous fabrication process. Superior barrier properties are achieved with transverse stretching by a factor of about 3-4.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 15, 2016Publication date: March 2, 2017Applicant: TORAY PLASTICS (AMERICA), INC.Inventors: Tracy A. Publication number: 20170057768Abstract: A transmitter transmits ultrasound to the conveyance path. A receiver receives the ultrasound. A double-feed detector detects whether or not double-feed of a plurality of sheets has occurred. A controller causes the transmitter to transmit ultrasound at a first burst interval when determining the threshold value, and causes the transmitter to transmit ultrasound at a second burst interval, which is shorter than the first burst interval, when detecting the double-feed of sheets. A double-feed detector determines a threshold value that enables distinction between double-feed and single-feed.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 4, 2016Publication date: March 2, 2017Inventors: Makoto Arima, Taishi Tomii

Publication number: 20170057772Abstract: A sheet flipping device includes a receiving member for receiving a sheet, a flipping volume being the volume which in operation is defined by the flipping movement of the sheet, and a flipping element for flipping the sheet around an axis of rotation within the flipping volume onto the receiving member. The sheet flipping device further includes an air vortex ring generator having an air vortex ring exit nozzle defining a translational direction of a generated air vortex ring when the generated vortex ring is in operation generated from the air vortex ring exit nozzle. The air vortex ring generator is mounted such that in operation the sheet is urged onto the receiving member by the air vortex ring during the flipping motion of the sheet through the flipping volume. A sheet stacking device and a printing apparatus include the sheet flipping device.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 10, 2016Publication date: March 2, 2017Applicant: OCÉ-TECHNOLOGIES B.V.Inventor: Kevin H.J.R. Publication number: 20170057773Abstract: An apparatus includes a transport path for transporting a sheet, a branch path branched off from the transport path to transport a sheet to a stacker, transport rollers on the transport path, branch rollers on the branch path, and a sheet processing control section controlling the rollers. The control section performs wait transport for switchback-transporting a sheet to cause the sheet to once wait in the branch path after the sheet transported in the transport path passes through a branch position, and transporting the sheet to a first processing tray together with a subsequent sheet, and second tray transport for switchback-transporting a sheet to transport to the stacker via the branch path after the sheet passes through the branch position, makes a switchback transport velocity in the second tray transport lower than that in switchback transport in the wait transport, and suppresses fluttering and bending of the sheet.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 24, 2016Publication date: March 2, 2017Applicant: NISCA CORPORATIONInventors: Takahiro NAKANO, Takashi SAITO, Isao KONDO

Publication number: 20170057774Abstract: A conveyance device includes a guide, a positioner, and a pusher. The guide extends in a longitudinal direction of an image bearer and is disposed upstream from a transfer position, at which an image is transferred from the image bearer to the recording medium, in a direction of conveyance of a recording medium to guide the recording medium. The positioner positions an end of the guide relative to the image bearer. The pusher contacts the guide at a position closer to a center of the guide than the end of the guide in the longitudinal direction, to push the guide toward the image bearer.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 3, 2016Publication date: March 2, 2017Inventors: Tomoya OHMURA, Yuuki NOBUOKA

Publication number: 20170057775Abstract: An example sheet product dispenser includes a housing, a first roll holder, and a second roll holder. A first roll of sheet product is positioned on the first roll holder and assigned as a primary roll and a second roll of sheet product is positioned on the second roll holder and assigned as a secondary roll. A dispensing mechanism is configured to dispense sheet product from at least one of the first roll and the second roll. A sensor is configured to sense measurement data associated with the primary roll, including sensing when the primary roll rotates to dispense and measuring the diameter of the primary roll. A data communication device is in communication with the sensor and configured to transmit the measurement data. A controller is configured to determine situational information regarding the sheet product dispenser and provide corresponding alerts to users regarding the situational information and measured data.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 25, 2016Publication date: March 2, 2017Inventors: Stephen Russel Kobs, Ryan Anthony Goltz

Publication number: 20170057776Abstract: A booklet processing apparatus includes a pressing member and a rotating unit. The pressing member presses a folded portion of a booklet formed to extend in one direction and having the folded portion on the downstream side in the one direction. The pressing member is provided so as to be rotatable about a rotary shaft that extends along the folded portion. The rotating unit rotates the pressing member so as to move a portion of the pressing member that confronts the folded portion downstream in the one direction so that the portion of the pressing member that confronts the folded portion is changed to a different portion.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 22, 2016Publication date: March 2, 2017Applicant: FUJI XEROX Co., Ltd.Inventor: Yutaka NOBE
