  • Patent number: 9586053
Abstract: A computer implemented system and method generates a patient-specific model of patient response to stimulation on a neural element basis, receives user-input of target neuromodulation sites, and, based on the patient-specific model, determines which stimulation paradigm and settings, including stimulation sites, would result in the target neuromodulation, where the stimulation sites are not necessarily the same as the resulting neuromodulation sites. The system outputs a visual representation of the stimulation sites that would result in the target neuromodulation. • Patent number: 9586054
Abstract: An external charger for an implantable medical device is disclosed which can automatically detect an implant and generate a charging field. The technique uses circuitry typically present in an external charger, such as control circuitry, a Load Shift Keying (LSK) demodulator, and a coupling detector. An algorithm in the control circuitry periodically issues charging fields of short duration in a standby mode. If the coupling detector detects the presence of a conductive material, the algorithm issues a listening window during which a charging field is generated. If an LSK reply signal is received at the LSK demodulator, the external charger can charge the implant in a normal fashion. If a movement signature is detected at the LSK demodulator indicative of a predetermined user movement of the external charger, a charging field is issued for a set timing period, to at least partially charge the IPG battery to restore LSK communications.

  • Patent number: 9586055
Abstract: A method for extinguishing a cardiac arrhythmia utilizes destructive interference of the passing of the reentry wave tip of an anatomical reentry through a depolarized region created by a relatively low voltage electric field in such a way as to effectively unpin the anatomical reentry. Preferably, the relatively low voltage electric field is defined by at least one unpinning shock(s) that are lower than an expected lower limit of vulnerability as established, for example, by a defibrillation threshold test. By understanding the physics of the electric field distribution between cardiac cells, the method permits the delivery of an electric field sufficient to unpin the core of the anatomical reentry, whether the precise or estimated location of the reentry is known or unknown and without the risk of inducting ventricular fibrillation. A number of embodiments for performing the method are disclosed.

  • Patent number: 9586060
Abstract: Radiotherapy is one of the most effective treatments for cancer and its success depends critically on accurate targeting and delivery of the correct radiation dose. Accurate dosimetry is therefore essential to maintain and improve patient survival rates. However, size and long wait times currently limit water and graphite based calorimeters to standards laboratories leaving field-based dosimetry to ionization chamber measurements which depend upon a reference field-specified calibration factor. It would therefore be beneficial to provide radiotherapy equipment operators a direct approach of clinical reference dosimetry wherein the dosimeter provides increased independence on dose, dose rate, radiation energy, and energy type, etc. It would be further beneficial for such novel clinical dosimeters to be compact, function as secondary standards used routinely for measurements and allow radiotherapy doses to be measured directly and in an absolute manner.

  • Patent number: 9586075
Abstract: Described is an exercise device for performing dips. The exercise device includes a pair of L-shaped sections connected to one another such that they form a U-shape. A handlebar section is inserted into a vertical portion of the first L-shaped section, and a footrest section is inserted into a vertical portion of a second L-shaped section. The height of the handlebars and of the footrest section can be adjusted by aligning apertures disposed on the exercise device, and inserting a pin therethrough to secure the device in a desired configuration. Further, the distance between the footrest and handlebars can be adjusted in a similar fashion. Once the device is positioned in the desired configuration, a user can hold a handlebar in each hand and position his or her shoulders above his hands, and the user can place his feet on the footrest in order to perform a dip.

  • Patent number: 9586078
Abstract: An apparatus for human exercise includes a first foot pad attached to a first guided carrier member, and a second foot pad attached to a second guided carrier member. Motion of the first and second guided carrier members is limited to linear translation along a longitudinal axis of a horizontal guide rail. First and second and third elastic members may be attached to and apply opposite elastic forces to the first and second guided carrier members along the longitudinal axis. A transverse frame member is fixed to the horizontal guide rail and is oriented horizontally and transverse to the longitudinal axis. A vertical frame member with a raised hand rail may extend from the transverse frame member. The first and second foot pads may be pivotably coupled to the first and guided carrier members by torsional elastic members.

  • Patent number: 9586079
Abstract: An apparatus for human exercise in certain configurations includes first and second foot pads attached to first and second guided carrier members, respectively. A first curved guide rail portion is coupled to the first guided carrier member, and prevents motion of the first guided carrier member except for translation along the first curved guide rail portion. A second curved guide rail portion is coupled to the second guided carrier member, and prevents motion of the second guided carrier member except for translation along the second curved guide rail portion. A first motion resistor is coupled to the first foot pad and opposes a translation of the first foot pad along the first curved guide rail portion. Each of the first curved guide rail portion and the second curved guide rail portion is curved away from an underlying ground plane, to define a distally increasing rail height.

  • Patent number: 9586080
Abstract: A weighted stand for use in storing several barbells in an upright and vertical orientation. The device provides a first plate and a second plate placed in opposition to one another, creating an open space therebetween. Both the first plate and the second plate have a plurality of apertures in which tubular members extend therethrough and are connected thereto. The tubular members provide a hollow interior and a first open end and a second open end. The user can insert the bar portion of a barbell within the first open end of the tubular members for storage in a vertical orientation therein. A weight member is positioned within the open area between the first plate and the second plate for anchoring and stabilizing the device. Further, a mat portion is connected to the second side of the second plate in order to prevent said device from sliding on the floor.

Abstract: An exercise machine handle system which provides a unique handle and rotatable handle hub configuration to aid in performing a variety of exercises. The exercise machine handle system generally includes one or more handle assemblies each having a mounting bracket adapted to be removably secured to an exercise machine and including an upwardly-extending mounting hub shaft. A handle hub having a pair of curved handles extending in opposite directions therefrom is rotatably securable around an upper end of the handle hub shaft into a variety of locked positions. A third curved handle extends from an upper end of the handle hub in a similarly rotatably securable position. By removably securing one or more handle assemblies to an exercise machine, a user can benefit from a wide range of exercises supported by the adjustable handle assemblies.

Abstract: Footwear for use in resistance band training includes plural spaced straps extending loosely over the instep. Each strap is circumscribed by a connection ring freely movable along the strap such that, when the ring is pulled by an applied force, the ring traverses the strap and is repositioned according to the direction of the force. The user may alternatively select any of the straps to engage a resistance band. A belt for connection to the straps includes a band connection ring movable to different positions on the belt. A pad may be positioned over a front belt ring to comfortably project the band away from the user's body. The footwear and belt may be used with a vest connected to limbs and extremities to body parts for a full body workout.

  • Patent number: 9586084
Abstract: A rocking chair provides abdominal exercise by user actuation of pivotal armrest handles that are configured to provide a crunch type exercise motion. The arrangement of internal pivot frames is such that armrest handle actuation shifts the user's center of mass both vertically and longitudinally, which in turn initiates a natural rocking motion by gravity. The inertial dynamics of the resulting motion are inherently kinesthetically pleasurable. The resistance is provided by the user's own body weight with variation through differential leverage. Alternatively, the configuration of the armrest handles is such that a user may benefit from an isometric exercise by simply holding them stationary in a conventional armrest position.
