Patent number: 9587752Abstract: An insertable backflow preventer is presented. The backflow preventer is provided with a cylindrical housing. The housing has a flow transition zone, a proximal orifice/ball seat, a ball with a specific weight that equals or is close to the specific weight of the surrounding fluid, and a distal retaining screen. The housing can have a flange provided on the outside of the housing at one end to facilitate securing the valve in a pipe. The valve is self-cleaning, can be placed in any orientation in a pipe and has low hydraulic head-loss. The valve's unique cost-effective design provides for easy and relative quick installation, eliminates the need to reconfigure existing plumbing, and can be performance tested remotely. Properly installed, it can dramatically improve the security of, for example, potable water sources in a building or other context, and inasmuch as when installed it is not visible, it is tamper proof.Type: GrantFiled: January 10, 2014Date of Patent: March 7, 2017Inventor: Albert Montague

Patent number: 9587791Abstract: A light source device includes a first semiconductor light source, a second semiconductor light source, and a wavelength converter. The first semiconductor light source emits light in a first wavelength range. The second semiconductor light source emits light in a second wavelength range different from the first wavelength range. The wavelength converter absorbs the light in the first wavelength range to emit light in a third wavelength range different from either of the first wavelength range and the second wavelength range, and transmits the light in the second wavelength range substantially entirely.Type: GrantFiled: February 23, 2016Date of Patent: March 7, 2017Assignee: OLYMPUS CORPORATIONInventor: Takeshi Ito

Patent number: 9587795Abstract: In a headlight for in-vehicle use, an LED serving as an optical source is provided in which one edge side of its light-emitting face is formed into a linear portion and placed at a side of an optical axis so that the center of the light-emitting face is displaced from the optical axis. A projection lens is constituted by a radiation-side convex lens and an LED-side convex lens that are arranged in a direction of the optical axis. Between the LED and the projection lens, a light distribution member is placed that is formed using a transparent material and has, on its inner surface, a reflection face for reflecting light emitted by the LED.Type: GrantFiled: September 17, 2013Date of Patent: March 7, 2017Assignee: Mitsubishi Electric CorporationInventors: Takashi Ohsawa, Masato Kurahashi, Fumihiro Minami
