Patent number: 9605404Abstract: A method is provided for using low-overhead equipment to perform a dynamic load test on pipe piles of a deep pile foundation for an existing building. The existing building is lifted to a predetermined elevation above grade and cribbing stacks are positioned to support the existing building at the predetermined elevation above grade. The cribbing stacks are spaced from each other enabling low-overhead equipment to maneuver underneath the elevated building to drill drive pipe piles and to position a drop weight used for dynamic load testing the driven pipe piles. Grout is pumped under pressure into the pipe piles continuously during the drill driving of the pipe piles so that grout exits through a grout port to mix with disturbed soil about the pipe pile to encase the pipe pile in a grout-soil mixture. Sensors are attached to the pipe pile being tested. The sensors provide information regarding the pipe pile impacted by the drop weight.Type: GrantFiled: May 28, 2014Date of Patent: March 28, 2017Inventors: Glen G. Hale, Charles J. Kelleher

Patent number: 9605405Abstract: A snubber for a machine includes a housing, a shaft and a pinion that is coupled to the shaft. The housing is mounted on an implement of the machine. The shaft is rotatably received within the housing and operatively coupled to a movable component of the implement. The snubber also includes a cylinder defining a cavity, a piston slidably received within the cylinder, a rack coupled to the piston, and a hydraulic device. The cylinder is at least partly disposed within the housing. The piston divides the cavity of the cylinder into a first chamber and a second chamber. The rack engages with the pinion to convert a rotation of the shaft into a linear movement of the piston. The hydraulic device is in fluid communication with the cavity and controls a flow of fluid between the first chamber and the second chamber to oppose rotation of the shaft.Type: GrantFiled: July 28, 2014Date of Patent: March 28, 2017Assignee: Caterpillar Global Mining LLCInventors: Kim G. Patent number: 9605406Abstract: An apparatus for cutting an edging trench around a landscape bed is constructed with a cutting blade that is rotated to help move the apparatus in the desired direction of travel while being operated to create an edging trench. The machine can be constructed in self-propelled, non-self-propelled or manually operated stick forms. The apparatus has a cutting blade that is configured in a cone-shaped manner with the narrow diameter located toward the center of the apparatus. The rotor is formed with a pair of thin slicing blades mounted on a spline shaft removable from the apparatus for maintenance. A first slicing blade shears the grass along the top of the trench and forms a vertical wall, while a second slicing blade forms a sloped wall. Displaced soil is discharged from the cutting blade and spread directly over the adjacent landscape bed to eliminate the need for subsequent clean-up operations.Type: GrantFiled: August 28, 2014Date of Patent: March 28, 2017Inventor: Kenneth R. Patent number: 9605407Abstract: An apparatus features front blade sections fixed to the frame in a V-configuration, and a pull tongue extending over the blade apex to a pivotal connection near a rear of the frame. An actuation mechanism effects relative pivoting between the frame and the pull tongue to adjust an angle between the front blade and the trailer tongue to control a position of the blade apex. Two rear blade sections on opposing sides of the frame are movable between deployed positions extending rearwardly and laterally outward from the front blade sections, and stowed positions elevated out of the deployed positions. The rear blade sections are movable downwardly past a plane in which they align with the front blade sections, thus enabling different working operations.Type: GrantFiled: May 3, 2016Date of Patent: March 28, 2017Inventor: Jeffrey Ryan Penner

Patent number: 9605408Abstract: An electric motor that is fixed to a revolving frame, an electrical equipment that is supported by the revolving frame by using a vibration absorption mount, and a cable for establishing a connection between the electric motor and the electrical equipment are provided. A connector mounting member having an outer shape smaller than that of a box is provided in the box of the electrical equipment, and an equipment-side connector is provided in the connector mounting member. A cable-side connector of the cable is connected to the equipment-side connector, and a cable end portion of the cable is fixed to the box by a clamp member. As a result, the vibration that is transmitted to the cable can be matched with the vibration that is transmitted to the cable-side connector.Type: GrantFiled: May 14, 2012Date of Patent: March 28, 2017Assignee: Hitachi Construction Machinery Co., Ltd.Inventors: Hidetoshi Satake, Takako Satake, Shinji Kato, Shuji Egawa, Takenori Hiroki, Toshihiko Watanabe, Yasunori Ota, Mitsugu Ojima
