  • Patent number: 9616517
Abstract: A dummy weld apparatus including a dummy weld gun which allows a direct weld robot with a conventional weld gun to clamp down on the dummy weld gun to apply force and weld current for performing welding of workpieces of a first composition (e.g., aluminum). This arrangement allows the current provided by the conventional weld gun to flow through the dummy weld gun for welding the workpieces using weld tips dedicated to welding parts of the first composition, but also allows the dummy weld gun to be removed from the conventional weld gun to allow the conventional weld gun to performing welding operations on workpieces of a second composition (e.g., steel) using the original welding tips of the weld gun, avoiding material contamination of the tips.

  • Patent number: 9616559
Abstract: A shoulder ring, for installation in a threaded pipe coupling between the installed pin ends of two pipes being connected by the coupling, has opposing end faces and a central opening, and may be lobate or circular in shape. The shoulder ring provides enhanced axial retention within the coupling by incorporating a thread element which engages the internal threads of the coupling to prevent or deter displacement of the ring from the coupling. Alternatively, enhanced axial retention may be provided by way of an interference or interlocking fit that is plastically induced during the ring installation process. The shoulder ring may be of lobate or circular configuration, with the axial retention of lobate embodiments being further enhanced by forces acting radially outward against the coupling due to elastic deformation of the ring during installation. Also disclosed are tools for installing the shoulder rings in a threaded coupling.

Abstract: A nail gun includes a body, a valve unit, a nail striking member and a detector. The body has a nail path, an air chamber, and an intake chamber guiding flow of air into the air chamber. The nail striking member is drivable by air pressure in the air chamber for striking a nail in the nail path. The valve unit is operable to switch between unblocking and blocking states to respectively permit and prevent fluid communication between the intake chamber and the air chamber. The detector is connected pivotally to the body, and is contactable with the valve unit such that, when there is no nail in the nail path, the valve unit is controlled by the detector to be in the blocking state.

Abstract: A toolbox has a central section and at least one side section. The side sections are pivotally attached to the central section using a pin and slot arrangement which allows an eccentric path to be followed as the side sections pivot around the central section. This allows freedom of design of the dimensions of a central tray in the central section without obstructing pivoting of the side sections. A latch may be provided which slightly opens the side sections when it is in its unlatched position allowing a user to see that the sides are not properly latched.
