Abstract: The invention relates to compact and lightweight disposable accumulators for generating electric energy with extremely high energy densities (>1 kWh/kg and >k Wh/liter), which are of immense interest in many areas of application. One possibility for implementing such energy accumulators consists in using metal hydrides in hydrogen generators in which hydrogen is generated by hydrolytically splitting off a proton from water in conjunction with the metal hydride. The chemical energy stored in the hydrogen can then be converted into electric energy in a fuel cell in a second step. Only half of the generated hydrogen originates from the metal hydride during the hydrolysis reaction; the water used for the hydrolysis process supplies the other half.

Abstract: Among other things, the present invention encompasses the applicant's recognition that epoxide carbonylation can be performed industrially utilizing syngas streams containing hydrogen, carbon monoxide and varying amounts carbon dioxide. Contrary to expectation, the epoxide carbonylation reaction proceeds selectively in the presence of these mixed gas streams and incorporates excess CO in the syngas stream into valuable chemical precursors, resulting in hydrogen streams substantially free of CO. This is economically and environmentally preferable to performing WSGR which releases the excess carbon as CO2. The integrated processes herein therefore provide improved carbon efficiency for processes based on coal or biomass gasification or steam methane reforming.

And the trend is to increase conversion efficiency and reduce emissions of unconverted sulfur dioxide. By using a special combination of contact catalyst beds, a single contact single absorption (SCSA) system can be engineered to achieve the conversion and emission capabilities of conventional double contact double absorption systems. Thus, the complexity and cost of incorporating a second absorption tower and associated heat exchanger in the system can be omitted. In the SCSA system, the initial catalyst bed or beds comprise vanadium oxide catalyst and the last catalyst bed or beds comprise platinum catalyst operating at a much lower temperature than the initial beds.

Abstract: An object of the present invention is to provide a purification method to give dodecacarbonyl triruthenium (DCR) which serves as a raw material for chemical vapor deposition and does not cause the contamination of a thin film with impurities even when used to form a ruthenium thin film. The present invention relates to a method in which the dissolved oxygen concentration in the solvent is made 0.2 mg/L or less in at least a dissolution stage, and an organic ruthenium compound including DCR as a raw material for chemical vapor deposition is purified by a recrystallization method. The present invention allows a trace amount of impurities to be separated from DCR. When a ruthenium thin film is formed by use of DCR thus obtained, the formed film is hardly contaminated with impurities. Additionally, the purification method of the present invention is also applicable for recovering/purifying DCR after being used for the formation of a ruthenium thin film.

Abstract: Raw water G containing arsenic in an amount exceeding an environmental standard value is poured into a treatment bath filled with particulate carriers. The raw water G in the treatment bath is treated at a flow rate which does not allow production of ferric hydroxide in a suspended form in the raw water while adding an acidic iron solution to the raw water G so that the pH value of the raw water G is adjusted to 6.5-7.5. A ferric hydroxide membrane is produced on the entire surfaces of the carriers by contact oxidation reaction of dissolvable ferrous ions in the raw water G having the adjusted pH value, to cause the arsenic in the raw water G to be adsorbed on the ferric hydroxide.

Abstract: A multi-function water treatment container for magnetizing water comprises a base, a connection barrel, a son bottle body, a first magnetic element, a second magnetic element, a cap, and a mother bottle body. The N, S poles of the first magnetic element and the N, S poles of the second magnetic element are corresponding to each other and a repelling magnetic field is generated. When shaking the container, the water molecules may be affected by magnetic waves with low frequencies to make the water become the magnetizing and resonating water. The water molecules may become finer. After being cut by the magnetic fields and vibrating with the frequencies, the activity of the water may be enhanced and the molecule arrangement may be more orderly. Furthermore, the oxygen content, the solubility, and the permeability of the water molecules are enhanced substantially so as to being absorbed more easily by human body.
