  • Patent number: 9629642
Abstract: A device for guiding a drilling of a femoral head of a femur in femoral head resurfacing comprises a body defining a guide channel adapted to receive and guide a drilling component therein. Arms are pivotally connected to the body and biased toward one another, the arms each having a contact end extending below the body, the contact ends adapted to contact a femoral neck when the body is in a hovering position relative to the femoral head. Sensors produce a signal indicative of an orientation angle of each of the arms relative to the body. • Patent number: 9629672
Abstract: A bone stabilizing plate includes two plate portions, each affixable to bones of a patient, the plate portions telescoping together with mating rails and grooves. A limiter associated with one of the plate portions sliding engages one a catch associated with the other of the plate portions, when the plate portions are telescoped together, and resists stops telescoping when the plate portions are telescoped a predetermined distance apart. Once the limiter and catch are engaged, the plate portions enable imposition of a minimum compressive force between bones connected to the plates. The limiter is resiliently positioned to deflect into a relief formed in its respective plate portion. A groove positioned proximate the catch enables free telescoping motion limited by the engagement of the catch and limiter, whereby the minimum compressive force between bones is maintained, and Wolfe's Law may apply.

  • Patent number: 9629674
Abstract: A kit includes: an implant having a distal end for inserting the implant into the body; and a gripper in the form of a hollow elongate body that is open at at least one end, that is slotted longitudinally, and made, at least partly, of an elastically-deformable material, the slot opening out into the axial cavity of the body, inside which the implant is suitable for insertion, with its distal end projecting from the “distal” end of the body. The kit includes at least one reception sheath for receiving the distal end of the implant in order to separate the implant from its gripper by moving the sheath and the gripper relative to each other in the direction that breaks the alignment between them, the sheath has a bearing seat against which the implant bears both when the implant is inserted in the sheath, and when separated from its gripper.

  • Patent number: 9629677
Abstract: A treatment device for a medical treatment heats a biotissue. The device includes a treatment tool which includes a heat transfer portion and a resistance element, a storage section which stores a time-power list including time-power relations, and a controller. The controller includes a resistance value acquiring section acquiring a resistance value of the resistance element, a power supplying section supplying the power to the resistance element, and a control section. The control section causes the power supplying section to supply a predetermined state detection power in a state detection period, calculates a change of the resistance value in the state detection period, acquires the time-power relation corresponding to the change of the resistance value, and causes the power supplying section to supply the power based on the acquired time-power relation.

Abstract: The present invention relates to open irrigated catheter ablation systems and methods used in connection with open irrigated catheter systems. The systems and related methods can control irrigation fluid flow to obtain temperature responses indicative of temperatures associated with an ablation procedure. Embodiments of the present invention provide irrigated catheter ablation systems having controlled irrigation fluid flow that can be directed at target areas where coagulation is more likely to occur to help minimize blood coagulation and associated problems. The irrigated fluid flow may be regulated in connection with an established or predetermined temperature threshold to improve or better optimize cooling and ablation properties of the system. In embodiments, irrigation flow may be either delayed or intermitted.

  • Patent number: 9629680
Abstract: A sterile surgical drape for protecting a robotic surgical system includes an oblong drape of a clear flexible plastic material, which unfolds from a compact packet. From the proximal side of the main panel of the drape there project two pocket flaps, which are separated by a medial trough. The two pocket flaps are configured to slip over one another and together enclose the top of the control tower in an overlapping fashion, such that the robotic manipulator arms extend on either side of the main panel, while the camera/endoscope arm extends through the medial trough. The open ends of the pocket flaps are folded over to form cuffs, wherein a nurse can insert his/her hand to draw the flap over the top of the tower without touching non-sterile surfaces. The unfolding of the main panel is controlled by adhesive tabs or tear strips, so that the bottom of the panel does not engage the cart's wheels or the floor.
