  • Patent number: 9641576
Abstract: A cloud-based video/audio conferencing system and method performs locale based aggregation of a full duplex media stream to organize multiple connections to a conference call that originate from the same physical location or a shared locale. The cloud-based video/audio conferencing system performs synchronization of the microphone and speaker audio signals of the same-locale connections. In this manner, a conference call may be held with multiple user devices making connections from the same physical location. User experience is enhanced by allowing each user in the same location to use his/her own individual devices to connect to the same conference call.

  • Patent number: 9641577
Abstract: A first content selection stored on a portable media device is associated with a first tag. In addition, a second tag that is associated with a second content selection and that indicates that supplemental content related to the second content selection is stored on a peer device is accessed from a peer device. The first tag is compared to the second tag, and, if a commonality shared by the first content selection and the second content selection is identified, an exchange of the supplemental content from the peer device to the portable media device is initiated.

  • Patent number: 9641580
Abstract: A low-latency cloud-scale computation environment includes a query language, optimization, scheduling, fault tolerance and fault recovery. An event model can be used to extend a declarative query language so that temporal analysis of event of an event stream can be performed. Extractors and outputters can be used to define and implement functions that extend the capabilities of the event-based query language. A script written in the extended query language can be translated into an optimal parallel continuous execution plan. Execution of the plan can be orchestrated by a streaming job manager which schedules vertices on available computing machines. The streaming job manager can monitor overall job execution. Fault tolerance can be provided by tracking execution progress and data dependencies in each vertex. In the event of a failure, another instance of the failed vertex can be scheduled. An optimal recovery point can be determined based on checkpoints and data dependencies.

  • Patent number: 9641581
Abstract: A method of controlling streaming of data, such as video, from a streaming server to a User Equipment (UE) via a Radio Access Network (RAN) is provided. The method includes receiving streaming data from the streaming server, re-shaping the received streaming data into bursts, and transmitting the bursts to the UE. The bursts are transmitted at a higher bitrate than the bitrate of the received streaming data. By re-shaping the streaming data into bursts, streaming can be effected in a more radio-friendly way, since the UE may switch to a less resource consuming radio state in-between reception of data bursts delivered at high bitrates. Further, a corresponding computer program and computer program product, and a proxy unit for controlling streaming of data from a streaming server to a UE via a RAN, are provided.

  • Patent number: 9641611
Abstract: A networking system, and more particularly an interface management subsystem, offers logical interface abstraction for networking system software. The networking system generally transmits data via a hardware interface. All software components in the control and forwarding plane use a Logical Interface (LIF) that is a logical representation of the hardware interface. A mapping occurs between the LIF and hardware interface used to transmit the data. Each LIF is represented by an LIF identifier used to store and retrieve logical interface records to and from shared memory accessible to all protocols and applications in the control and forwarding plane. The efficient storage and retrieval of such logical interface records allows for a global unique view of network interfaces, avoidance of data replication in each networking system software application's memory space, etc.

  • Patent number: 9641614
Abstract: Embodiments provide a method and system for enabling access to a storage device. Specifically, a node may request admittance to a cluster that has read and write access to a storage device. The node seeking access to the storage device must be first be approved by other nodes in the cluster. As part of the request, the node seeking access to the storage device sends a registration key to a storage device. Upon expiration of a registration timer, the node seeking access to the storage device receives a registration table from the storage device and determines whether its registration key is stored in the registration table. If the registration key is stored in the registration table the node has been accepted in the cluster and as a result, has been granted read and write access to the storage device.

  • Patent number: 9641615
Abstract: A distributed network of storage elements (DNSE) is provided in which the physical capacity of each drive is split into a set of equal sized logical splits which are individually protected within the DNSE using separate RAID groups. To reduce restoration latency, members of the RAID groups having a member in common on a given drive are spread within the DNSE to minimize the number of sets of drives within the DNSE that have RAID members in common. By causing the splits to be protected by RAID groups, restoration of the splits may occur in parallel involving multiple drives within the DNSE. By minimizing the overlap between RAID members on various drives, failure of a given drive will not require multiple reads from another drive in the DNSE. Likewise, spare splits are distributed to enable write recovery to be performed in parallel on multiple drives within the DNSE.

  • Patent number: 9641616
Abstract: Techniques are disclosed for processing a self-steering storage command via a point-to-point communication protocol. A network adapter in a storage node receives an instance of a current command frame directed to a group of storage nodes and performs a storage operation in response to a storage command associated with the current command frame. The network adapter determines whether all storage nodes have received an instance of the current command frame. If all storage nodes have received an instance of the current command frame, then the network adapter transmits a final completion status frame to a computation node that originated the current command frame. Otherwise, the network adapter generates a next instance of the command frame, and transmits the next instance of the current command frame to an additional storage node in the group of storage nodes.

Abstract: The present invention provides a method and system for verifying integrity of cloud data using unconnected trusted device. The method involves requesting encrypted data though a terminal from a metadata offsite location on a cloud storage then entering encrypted data into an unconnected trusted device thereafter obtaining sentinel data from one or more predefined sentinel locations in encrypted data then requesting original data from the cloud storage through the terminal from the unconnected trusted device thereafter comparing sentinel data and original data for integrity and finally displaying the results.

Abstract: Social media platforms with gamification of user-generated content, wherein users upload content that other users rate, and a winner is declared based on the ratings. In one embodiment, each user can post only once per day. In one embodiment, a random user is invited each day to create a post for display on the main landing page or “Spotlight” page to the entire community, while the remaining posts are in the “Backstage” area. In some embodiments, users are rewarded with cash or other prizes or rewards as an incentive for posting quality content. In one embodiment, the user who accumulates the most “likes” at the end of each calendar month is deemed the winner for that month.

Abstract: A connection-indicative signal can be received at a master electronic device from an electronic accessory. The connection-indicative signal can include a connection attribute indicative of a presence or characteristic of a connection between the electronic accessory and at least one other electronic accessory of the master electronic device. A location of the master electronic device can be determined at the master electronic device. The location can be stored at the master electronic device in association with the connection attribute. The master electronic device can detect a locate-accessory input that corresponds to a request to locate the at least one other electronic accessory; or that a locate-accessory condition is satisfied based on another connection attribute included in another connection-indicative signal received from the electronic accessory. The stored location can be retrieved in response to the detecting.

Abstract: A service provisioning mediator entity in a communications system is provided with information defining a set of service provisioning triggering messages. In response to receiving a service provisioning triggering message including an identifier associated with a user from a further network entity involved in providing the service to the user, the service provisioning mediator entity triggers service provisioning in the communications system for the user. The service provisioning triggering message may be sent by a controlling network entity upon receiving from an information store a message indicating that a user attempting to register is not recognized. If the user is recognized, trigger information in the information store may be used for directed a session to a network entity configured to handle service provisioning triggering messages. As a further alternative, a user may request service provisioning by sending a service provisioning triggering message from a communication device.
