Abstract: A golf club head having multiple structural columns is disclosed herein. A body comprises a face section, a sole section, and a crown or return section, and defines a hollow interior. Each of the structural columns extends from the crown or return section to the sole section within the hollow interior to reduce stresses placed on the face section during impact with a golf ball. The structural columns are all located within 1 inch of a rear surface of the face section measured along a plane normal to the center of the face, and are spaced a distance of 0.500 to 2.00 inch from one another within the hollow interior.

Abstract: A golf club with a composite grip that provides a golfer with better feel of the club striking the ball. As a result, the golfer can improve his understanding of proper hand placement on the golf club to ensure appropriate alignment for most effective ball striking. The golf club includes a shaft and a transition member that establishes the interface between the shaft and the composite grip. The transition member is configured to receive therein the shaft and is further configured for insertion into the composite grip. The three components are joined together and a club head is attached to the shaft. The invention is well suited for making an improved putter that enables the golfer to increase putting accuracy.

Abstract: Club Saver is an adjustable, removable, and reusable foam rubber golf club shaft protector for use with clubs in a golfer's bag. Drivers (also called woods), fairway metals (also called fairway woods), and long irons are considered the longest shaft clubs in a golfer's bag. The shafts of these items are often exposed to shaft damage or scrapes from the shorter clubs during golf play or when transporting clubs.

Abstract: A basketball handling training aid is disclosed, comprising a cover which fits over a basketball. The cover is comprised of a low-friction material which necessitates proper hand position on the basketball in order to maintain control of the ball while dribbling, and in order to achieve accuracy when passing or shooting. In one embodiment, the cover is constructed from a plurality of sections of the material and can be installed on, and removed from, an ordinary basketball as desired by the player. Various designs for fitting the cover securely on the basketball are disclosed. Alternately, the cover can be fabricated with a basketball permanently enclosed within, and the basketball/cover assembly provided as a set.

In some embodiment, the systems and devices can comprise a first band having a first sleeve affixed thereto and a second band having a second sleeve affixed thereto. An inner tubing can extend substantially between the first end of the first sleeve and the first end of the second sleeve. Additionally, the first sleeve can house a first magnetic component and the second sleeve can oppose the first sleeve and house a second magnetic component. The first and second magnetic components can be configured to transition the first and second sleeves from an unconnected state, in which at least a portion of the inner tubing is disposed between the first sleeve and the second sleeve, to a connected state.

Abstract: Protective headgear includes, for example, a headgear body that is wearable on a head of a baseball umpire. At least one sensor is configured to generate imaging data that includes a batter in proximity to home plate. A processor analyzes the imaging data to determine a strike zone of the batter and to generate augmented reality data in response thereto. A display device generates a heads up display of the strike zone that is viewable to the baseball umpire during a pitch to the batter, based on the augmented reality data. Abstract: A projectile throwing game. The present system is a game that involves throwing a projectile into the interior of a receiving unit. The receiving unit is equipped with a sensor that detects when a projectile enters the receiving unit. The receiving unit additionally has a transceiver configured to relay information to a processor unit. The processor unit is connected to a visual output and displays virtual images representing the physical receiver units. The object of the game is to throw specific projectiles into specific receiver units, as instructed by the virtual images.

Abstract: Virtual and augmented reality sports training environments are disclosed. A user interacts with virtual players in a simulated environment of a virtual reality sporting event. In some embodiments, the user's actions and decisions are monitored by the simulated environment. The environment evaluates the user's performance, and provides quantitative scoring based on the user's decisions and timing. Coaches and other users may design customized scenarios or plays to train and test users, and the resultant scores may be reviewed by the coach. In one application, real life pitchers and their pitching data are tracked and replicated in a simulated pitching environment. A team of users may practice against a simulation of a pitcher they are about to compete against, swinging at pitches that they would see in a real game. Such environments may maximize effective practice time for users, and help develop better players with improved decision-making skills.
