  • Patent number: 9675479
Abstract: Stents (10) that are implanted within or around a hollow organ, especially self-expanding stents, comprising several annular wall segments (11) which are provided with an elastic structure and are joined to each other by means of connecting elements (12), are often problematic because the length of said stents is modified due to compressive stress, tensile stress, or contraction thereof, potentially resulting in undesired displacement of the stent (10). In order to prevent such positional changes of an implanted stent (10), the inventive connecting elements (12) form at least one continuous longitudinal web (13) which is provided with at least one component in an axial direction for receiving compressive stress or tensile stress in a longitudinal direction.

  • Patent number: 9675480
Abstract: The invention is directed to an expandable stent for implanting in a body lumen, such as a coronary artery, peripheral artery, or other body lumen. The invention provides for an intravascular stent having a plurality of cylindrical rings connected by undulating links. The stent has a high degree of flexibility in the longitudinal direction, yet has adequate vessel wall coverage and radial strength sufficient to hold open an artery or other body lumen. The stent can be compressed or crimped onto a catheter to a very low profile since the peaks that are adjacent the curved portion of the undulating link are shorter than other peaks in the same cylindrical ring to prevent overlap yet still achieve a very low profile, tightly crimped stent onto a catheter.

Abstract: The invention is a method consisting of stimulation of specific new acupuncture points to prevent, detect, treat and heal specific types of neoplastic process in humans. The specific acupuncture points used in the method of the invention have not been previously disclosed for the treatment of neoplastic processes. The treatments can be carried out by accredited practitioners in a clinical setting or by the patient her/himself at home. The stimulation can be provided by any of the known techniques used for stimulation of controlling points, including, but not limited to, traditional acupuncture needles, auto-injector needles, electric acupuncture, acupressure, lasers, acupuncture lasers, UV radiation, infra-red radiation, heat, magnets, moxibustion, and a combination of two or more of these techniques, for example, the use of both needles and laser acupuncture simultaneously in a single treatment session. The method of the invention is also used for detection and prevention of neoplastic process.

Abstract: An aseptic sampling system comprises sampler and interface assemblies. Each assembly comprises a housing defining separate sterile enclosures. An air lock provides aseptic joining of the enclosures within the sampler and interface assemblies, and a re-sealable liquid connection mechanism operates within the lock. The sampler and interface assemblies, when connected, form an outer protective surface comprising the housings of the sampler and interface assemblies, the protective surface providing a sterile internal enclosure and air lock and an air-tight barrier between outer non-sterile, and inner sterile, atmospheres.

  • Patent number: 9675523
Abstract: A medication dispensing device comprises a cartridge unit and a control unit. The cartridge unit comprises a cartridge housing defining a dispensing channel to allow passage of the dosage from the cartridge to the patient. A cartridge holds dosages, with a driven member engaging the cartridge. The driven member drives the cartridge to dispense a dosage. The control unit comprises a main housing for coupling to the cartridge housing. A driver member engages the driven member to actuate the driven member. A motor driven locking mechanism is moveable between locked and unlocked positions. When in the locked position the cartridge unit is secured to the control unit. When in the unlocked position the cartridge unit is separable from the control unit thereby providing access to the cartridge. A mobile computing device stores dosage availability and receives an authorized patient identification input before dispensing a dosage.

Abstract: The present invention provides devices for creating an external percutaneous fluidic connections. In one embodiment, a needle is configured for extending through an endoscope. The needle includes a distal sharp tip and a lumen extending therethrough. The needle extends out of the endoscope within a body cavity to create an incision through a patient's skin. A safety cap is attached over the distal sharp tip without occluding the needle lumen. A wire is inserted through the needle lumen such that it extends from outside the body at the incision, through the body, and outside the body at the patient's mouth. After removing the needle and the endoscope from the body, a PEG device is coupled to the wire at the patient's mouth, and the PEG device is delivered through the upper GI tract and out through the incision.
