Patent number: 9683421Abstract: A wellbore system includes a sealing assembly for creating an annular seal between wellbore members. The sealing assembly includes a seal body having a u-shaped cross section, with elongate grooves formed on inner and outer walls thereof. A depth of the grooves varies along a length of the grooves to allow wickers to penetrate the groove by differing degrees when the walls are urged toward the wickers. The wickers can thus provide a high degree of both sealing and lockdown performance.Type: GrantFiled: October 31, 2013Date of Patent: June 20, 2017Assignee: VETCO GRAY INC.Inventors: Aniruddha D. Patent number: 9683422Abstract: A rotating flow control diverter apparatus having an upper and a lower stripper element mounted on upper and lower tubular shaft, respectively, each of which is axially rotatable by means of an upper and lower sealed bearing assembly, respectively, within a central bore of a housing. An upper and lower seal assembly seal the annular space between the central bore and the upper and lower tubular shaft, respectively to define a purge chamber. The purge chamber is in fluid communication with the central bore via the lower tubular shaft, and may be provided with valved ports. The housing may be constructed in removably mounted upper and lower portions, to which the upper and lower sealed bearing assemblies, respectively, and upper and lower seal assemblies, respectively, are mounted.Type: GrantFiled: June 12, 2013Date of Patent: June 20, 2017Assignee: Weatherford Technology Holdings, LLCInventor: Michael Boyd

Patent number: 9683423Abstract: A disintegrating plug features anchoring with friction rings that are expanded during the setting to contact the tubular. The design is modular and can integrate as many friction rings as needed to fixate the plug against the anticipated treating pressures from above when a ball is landed on the seat of the plug. The friction rings can be standalone or integrated with an adjacent ramp for the next friction ring. The friction rings are made from a disintegrating material along with other parts of the plug so that when the treating procedure is completed the plugs will substantially disappear to facilitate subsequent production. A fracking application is contemplated.Type: GrantFiled: April 22, 2014Date of Patent: June 20, 2017Assignee: Baker Hughes IncorporatedInventor: YingQing Xu

Patent number: 9683424Abstract: An apparatus to inject a fluid into a geological formation. The apparatus includes a central bore running axially through the apparatus; a normally-closed sleeve valve with a sliding sleeve, the sleeve valve configured to open at a sleeve activation pressure; an upstream packer disposed upstream from the sleeve valve; a downstream packer disposed downstream from the sleeve valve; and a normally-open bottom valve disposed downstream from the downstream packer, the bottom valve configured to block axial fluid flow at a first bore pressure. The upstream packer and the downstream packer are configured to set at a second bore pressure between the first bore pressure and the sleeve activation pressure.Type: GrantFiled: February 23, 2015Date of Patent: June 20, 2017Assignee: COMITT WELL SOLUTIONS US HOLDING INC.Inventor: Peter Kristien Cleven

Patent number: 9683425Abstract: A downhole injection tool has an injection unit with a first expandable cup adapted to provide a first seal against the inside wall, and a second expandable cup adapted to provide a second seal against the inside wall. The two cups, in an expanded state, together define an isolated zone of the annular space. At least one pipe element extends in a longitudinal direction between the two cups, the pipe element providing a fluid passage between an inlet arranged in one end of the pipe element and an outlet arranged in the pipe element in between the cups, the second expandable cup being slidably connected with the pipe element and displaced in the longitudinal direction away from the first expandable cup under the influence of the injection fluid injected into the isolated zone, whereby a distance d between the two cups is increased.Type: GrantFiled: September 27, 2012Date of Patent: June 20, 2017Assignee: Welltec A/SInventors: Jørgen Hallundbæk, Lars Stæhr, Steffen Evertsen

Patent number: 9683426Abstract: Certain aspects of the present invention are directed to a distributed inflow control device that can be disposed in a wellbore through a fluid-producing formation. The distributed inflow control includes a shroud that can be disposed in the fluid-producing formation. The shroud circumferentially covers a section of a tubing string. The shroud includes a profile having multiple flow paths between the fluid-producing formation and an inner volume of the section of the tubing string. Each flow path restricts a fluid flow through the flow path and is independent of each other flow path. The distributed inflow control device also includes a seal over the profile including the flow paths. The seal causes fluid to flow from an inlet to an outlet of each flow path and prevents fluid from entering or exiting each flow path at a point other than the respective inlet or the respective outlet.Type: GrantFiled: December 31, 2012Date of Patent: June 20, 2017Assignee: HALLIBURTON ENERGY SERVICES, INC.Inventors: Jean-Marc Lopez, Luke William Holderman, Michael Linley Fripp, Liang Zhao
