Abstract: A lock-up clutch control device is provided for a vehicle having a torque converter with a lock-up clutch disposed between an engine and a continuously variable transmission such that the occurrence of shocks during lock-up engagement is suppressed. The vehicle lock-up clutch control device is provided with a control unit that controls the lock-up capacity based on an engine torque signal when engaging the lock-up clutch. The control unit uses a predictive engine torque as the engine torque signal for use in the lock-up capacity control. The predictive engine torque is calculated based on an engine torque air response delay and a hydraulic response delay in the lock-up differential pressure and is faster in response than the actual engine torque.

The spool (58), slidably engaged inside the body (56), includes concave surfaces between seals (62) that is complementary to the spherically shaped internal grooves (68) of the body. The spherical shape of the body internal grooves (68) and/or concave shape of the spool allow more volume and more laminar flow therebetween, resulting in an increased flow coefficient and flow capacity. The body also is formed with transverse port windows in the port that contour into a bore of the body adjacent the spool. A choke volume in the flow is strategically designed in a parallel flow location rather than a perpendicular flow location to promote laminar flow and lessen turbulence to also increase the flow coefficient.

Abstract: A grip and fitting assembly for coupling an air hose to a gladhand coupler. The grip is flexible and tapered with a tubular interior through which may pass a length of hose shielded and protected by the grip. The grip is affixed to a fitting attachable to the gladhand coupler on a first threaded end thereof and attachable to the air hose on a second barbed end thereof. The grip is configured with one or more internal keyway boss which aligns and interlocks with one or more corresponding keyway recess on a retaining shoulder formed between the ends of the fitting. The secure, snap-fit attachment between the grip and fitting ensures ease of operation, installation, maintenance, along with increased durability, weather-resistance, efficiency, usability, and reliability of the coupling.

Abstract: A pipe seal assembly may include a stiffener having an axis, an inner diameter (ID) and an outer diameter (OD). The seal assembly also may include an elastomer that is coupled to and extending though the stiffener, such that the elastomer is located on both the ID ad the OD of the stiffener. A method of manufacturing a tubular member may include forming the tubular member with a female end; locating a seal assembly having an extension inside the female end, pressing the seal assembly into the female end to form a seal groove, and belling the tubular member using the seal assembly to form a belled shape, and pressing the extension into the interior of the female end to form a spline groove inside the female end adjacent the seal groove; and then sacrificially removing the extension, but leaving the seal assembly to form a final assembly.

Abstract: A sealing assembly has an expansion band having an arcuate band portion and a pair of threaded end portions formed at opposing ends of the arcuate band, in which the arcuate band and threaded end portions are monolithically formed as a single piece. Fixed within respective threaded end portions are a pair of oppositely threaded nuts adapted to receive a bolt having correspondingly oppositely threaded ends. Rotation of the bolt causes the threaded end portions to be simultaneously driven apart or drawn toward one another (depending on the rotation direction of the bolt) to thereby expand or contract the overall outer profile of the arcuate band portion. The monolithically formed expansion band may be made of an inexpensive, non-rusting material such as nylon 66, and glass fibers and/or additives may be employed to impart strength and flexibility.
