Patent number: 9713480Abstract: Technologies are provided for an opto-mechanical device for enabling surgeons to rapidly simulate proposed intestinal/colorectal anastomosis cut lines and assess their impact upon tissue perfusion prior to their implementation. The pre-selection process enables a surgeon to decide upon the locations of the anastomotic cut lines that are most likely to reduce ischemia, while preserving most of the intestinal tissue length. The opto-mechanical device may simulate a cut line by applying pressure to intestinal tissue and detecting a light pattern transmitted through the intestinal tissue before and after the applied pressure. A perfusion map may be generated to estimate perfusion quality around the circumference of the intestinal tissue at the site of a simulated cut line, and the perfusion map may be displayed as a two-dimensional graphic image of the proposed anastomosis site. Once the site of the best cut line is selected, the surgeon may activate a cutting blade to implement the cut.Type: GrantFiled: September 16, 2013Date of Patent: July 25, 2017Assignee: EMPIRE TECHNOLOGY DEVELOPMENT LLCInventors: Boris Leschinsky, Jonathan R. Patent number: 9713519Abstract: An implantable prosthesis can have a three-dimensional shape that is invertible, so as to assume either a right configuration or a left configuration, which can be substantially mirror images of each other, so as to eliminate the need for separately manufacturing a left prosthesis and a right prosthesis. An implantable prosthesis can be preformed to independently assume a contoured three-dimensional shape that more adequately fits the extraperitoneal laparoscopic inguinal space, while simultaneously maintaining a relatively large area for fixation of the prostheses (e.g., through suturing or integration with the surrounding tissue). An implantable prosthesis can have a three-dimensional contoured shape that is formed from a single piece of continuous material, such as a mesh, and can possess substantially uniform rigidity.Type: GrantFiled: January 4, 2013Date of Patent: July 25, 2017Assignee: Atrium Medical CorporationInventors: Anthony R. Patent number: 9713520Abstract: Novel tissue repair implants are disclosed. The tissue repair implants have a bottom planar base member and an upper skirt member extending about the periphery of the base member. The implants have at least one position indicating feature that alerts the surgeon if the skirt member has rolled over or displaced during fixation to tissue in order to assist in preventing fixation of the skirt in an improper position to provide an optimal surgical repair.Type: GrantFiled: June 29, 2015Date of Patent: July 25, 2017Assignee: Ethicon, Inc.Inventor: Gabriel R. Patent number: 9713522Abstract: A stent comprised of a valve and a scaffolding structure having components configured to allow at least a portion of the stent to decrease in diameter in response to an axial force applied to the stent. Further, the components and elements of the stent may be configured to balance transverse forces applied to the stent, thus reducing the incidence of infolding.Type: GrantFiled: March 18, 2015Date of Patent: July 25, 2017Assignee: Merit Medical Systems, Inc.Inventors: Darla Gill, Zeke Eller, Rich Snider, Trent Clegg

Patent number: 9713523Abstract: The invention provides a stent-graft system comprising a graft member and a stent having a connection end interconnected with the graft member and a free end opposed thereto. A belt retaining structure is provided at the stent free end. A belt is releasably retained in the belt retaining structure and is configured to constrain the stent free end independent of the stent connection end. A method of securing at least one end of a stent-graft within a vessel is also provided.Type: GrantFiled: August 5, 2014Date of Patent: July 25, 2017Assignee: TRIVASCULAR, INC.Inventors: Isaac J. Patent number: 9713525Abstract: An intraocular lens for reducing aberrant optical effects includes a substantially oval, elliptical, or rectangular optic with an anterior surface, a posterior surface and a peripheral region/zone disposed about a central optical axis and a plurality of haptics coupled to the optic. The peripheral region/zone has an inflection region/transition area that is inclined with respect to the anterior surface at an angle between about 40 degrees and 120 degrees with respect to the optical axis. The thickness at the edge of the IOL is less than or about 0.03 mm.Type: GrantFiled: June 28, 2013Date of Patent: July 25, 2017Assignee: ABBOTT MEDICAL OPTICS INC.Inventors: Huawei Zhao, David A Ruddocks

Patent number: 9713526Abstract: The invention relates to an artificial intra ocular lens of variable optical power, comprising at least two optical elements which can be shifted relative to each other in a direction extending perpendicular to the optical axis wherein the optical elements have such a shape that they exhibit, in combination, different optical powers at different relative positions. This results in a construction which has such a low weight that it is applicable as an intra ocular lens of adjustable optical power. According to a first preferred embodiment the lens comprises positioning means the optical elements in the eye and driving means, which can be operated by the user to execute a movement of at least one of the optical elements relative to the other optical element. This embodiment can be used to correct the accommodation function.Type: GrantFiled: March 1, 2005Date of Patent: July 25, 2017Assignee: Akkolens International B.V.Inventor: Michiel Christiaan Rombach

Patent number: 9713527Abstract: The invention relates to a multi-lens intraocular lens system having an accommodation material between the lenses. The system comprises an posterior lens attached to the posterior surface of the capsular bag and an anterior lens attached to the anterior surface of the capsular bag. The anterior and posterior lenses have different optical properties providing different degrees and types of correction. An accommodation material is place between the anterior and posterior lenses. The accommodation material may comprise of one or more macromers, which, when polymerized, adjust the properties of the accommodation material.Type: GrantFiled: July 20, 2006Date of Patent: July 25, 2017Assignee: RxSight, Inc.Inventors: Okihiro Nishi, Kayo Nishi, Shiao H. Patent number: 9713528Abstract: An intraocular lens insertion device having a configuration in such a manner that, with the displacement of a haptic toward the convex side of an optical portion, which can be deformed in a curved shape, restricted by an engaging part provided to the tip part of a plunger, the haptic is deformed in a curved shape in the direction in which the haptic approaches the optical portion. The configuration allows, when the intraocular lens is pushed out by the plunger, the haptic to enter a gap formed on the concave side of the optical portion which has been deformed in a curved shape.Type: GrantFiled: April 27, 2016Date of Patent: July 25, 2017Assignee: KOWA COMPANY, LTD.Inventors: Kazuharu Niwa, Yasuhiko Suzuki, Masayoshi Tanaka

Patent number: 9713529Abstract: A sequentially deployed prosthetic cardiac valve includes a self-expanding frame having an atrial skirt, a ventricular skirt, and an annular region disposed therebetween. A first anterior tab is disposed on an anterior portion of the frame. A posterior tab is on a posterior portion of the self-expanding frame. The frame may be designed so that any portion may expand sequentially in any desired order. For example, a portion of the first anterior tab and a portion of the posterior tab may partially self-expand first. Next, the first anterior tab may fully self-expand before the posterior tab fully self-expands. The posterior tab may fully self-expand next followed by the ventricular skirt, or the ventricular skirt may self-expand next followed by full expansion of the posterior tab.Type: GrantFiled: February 17, 2016Date of Patent: July 25, 2017Assignee: NEOVASC TIARA INC.Inventors: Randy Matthew Lane, Colin A.
