Abstract: A controller sets a target hydraulic pressure from a required hydraulic pressure of a hydraulically operated device according to an operating condition of an engine. The controller causes an oil control valve to perform feedback control of the discharge amount of an oil pump in such a manner that an actual hydraulic pressure detected by a hydraulic pressure sensor coincides with the target hydraulic pressure. The controller executes feedback control after executing fixed duty control of setting a duty ratio of the oil control valve to a fixed duty ratio for a predetermined period of time from start of the engine.

Abstract: Disclosed are four-stroke internal combustion engines and engine modules. The engine modules described herein convert linear reciprocating motion of a piston within a cylinder to rotational motion of a flywheel, which rotates around the cylinder's axis, or to rotational motion of the cylinder, which rotates within the flywheel. The linear reciprocating motion of the piston causes rotation of the flywheel or cylinder by piston pins being pushed down a sloped, spiraling surface of the flywheel, resulting in highly efficient power transfer. The rotational motion is transferred through a final drive, such as a drive shaft, drive train or drive chain. Engines described herein may include pairs of engine modules.

Abstract: An assembly including a connecting rod, a bushing, and a locking pin capable of providing different compression ratios in an engine is provided. The bushing is disposed in a bore of the connecting rod. An outer surface of the bushing includes a pair of notches, and an inner surface of the connecting rod includes a corresponding notch for receiving the locking pin. The notches are spaced from one another by greater than 180° and by no more than 190°. The locking pin is movable in the notch, allowing the bushing to rotate from a low compression position to a high compression position, or vice versa. The bushing has a varying thickness, and thus a center axis of an opening of the bushing is closer to the shaft of the connecting rod body when the bushing is in the low compression orientation than in the high compression orientation.
