Abstract: Towed vehicles can be extremely heavy. Accordingly, it is too much of a burden to the braking system of a towing vehicle to not have brakes on the towed vehicle. Controlling the brakes of the towed vehicle must be accurately applied otherwise undesirable conditions can be created. There is a need for a method for controlling braking of a towed vehicle. This method comprises receiving a first signal via a communication bus of a towing vehicle, the first signal relating to at least one operating condition of at least one the towing vehicle and a towed vehicle, sending a second signal to brakes of the towed vehicle, the second signal based on said first signal.

Abstract: A brake system includes first and second wheel brakes, a reservoir, and a brake pedal unit having a housing and a pair of output pistons slidably disposed in the housing. The output pistons generate brake actuating pressure during a manual push-through mode for actuating the first and second wheel brakes. The system further includes a plunger assembly having a housing having first and second ports, a motor driving an actuator, and a piston connected to the actuator. The piston pressurizes a first chamber when the piston is moving in a first direction to provide fluid flow out of the first port. The piston pressurizes a second chamber when the piston is moving in a second direction opposite the first direction to provide fluid flow out of the second port. The first and second ports are selectively in fluid communication with the wheel brakes.

In one example, while a first vehicle is stopped, first data is received from a first set of sensors mounted on the first vehicle, the first data indicative of a state of traffic surrounding the first vehicle, and second data is received from a second set of sensors mounted on the first vehicle, the second data indicative of a state of attention of a driver of the first vehicle. Whether the first data and the second data satisfy indication-generation criteria, including a criterion that is satisfied when the second data indicates that the driver is distracted, is determined. In accordance with a determination that the first data and the second data satisfy the indication-generation criteria, the driver of the first vehicle is provided an indication to proceed into a region of a road.

Abstract: Transition is made from a motor single-drive mode to a motor dual-drive mode while there is a margin in torque output from a motor MG2 with respect to rated torque. With this, the torque of the motor MG1 is changed slowly in the motor dual-drive mode, whereby it is possible to suppress the generation of vibration (shock) due to torsion of a damper and to compensate for a shortage of the torque of the motor MG1 due to slow change processing with an increase in torque from the motor MG2. As a result, it is possible to achieve both of reduction of a shock due to the torque of the motor MG1 and output of required torque to a drive shaft.

Abstract: A system for a driving mode conversion of a vehicle is provided. The system includes a driving information detecting unit that detects driving information based on a vehicle driving using sensors within the vehicle. A driving propensity determining unit determines a driving propensity based on average vehicle speed and a position variation of accelerator and brake pedals. A predicting unit learns an acceleration and deceleration prediction model based on the driving information, and generates a near future intention prediction value to which a vehicle driving environment and the driving propensity are reflected utilizing the prediction model. A controller determines whether an engine starting is performed by calculating current required power of a driver based on a pedal position value, and determines whether the engine starting is performed by comparing the near future acceleration and deceleration intention prediction value with the position value of the pedal.
