Abstract: A fluid pressurization and dispensing system, including a coupler releasably attached to a vessel via an attachment means for securing a vacuum seal between the coupler and the vessel for maintaining pressure within the vessel, refreshing the gas composition within the vessel, and dispensing of a fluid contents externally from within the vessel without disturbing the vacuum seal. The coupler has a rigid single body unit having a tap head, a shank, and a cap which are contiguous thereof the coupler including a plurality of channels each integrally machined within an interior portion of the coupler. The system regulates a flow of gas from a pressurized gas cartridge via a gas pressure regulator, enables venting excess gas via a gas pressure relief valve, enables measurement of gas pressure within the vessel via a gas pressure gauge. Another embodiment of the system includes a coupler including a bi-level tap head.

Abstract: A system for dispensing a liquid from a bottle 13 comprises an assembly 17, 18 and a stopper 19 to be introduced into a bottleneck, which stopper can be separated from the assembly. The stopper 19 comprises a liquid dispensing pipe 14, 16 with a electromagnetic valve 15 and a gas path 12 having a check valve 11 therein. The assembly comprises a solenoid 10 and a tank 1 containing gas for driving the liquid from the bottle. The tank is connected via a further electromagnetic valve 3 to gas pipes 8 and 9. The stopper which closes off the bottle can be connected to the assembly such that gas pipe 9 connects with check valve 12 and solenoid 10 surrounds electromagnetic valve 15. By actuating programmable button switch 4 both electromagnetic valves 3, 15 open for a preset time so that a metered quantity of liquid is dispensed from the bottle. Alternatively, another button switch 5 allows to dispense a non-preset volume of liquid.

Abstract: A keg cleaning system and method is provided. The keg cleaning system and method is operable to first pump a fluid cleaner through an intake of a keg coupler and into a keg at a high pressure. The liquid cleaner is pumped into the keg for a short period of time. After the liquid cleaner has been pumped into the keg, CO2 or air is then pumped through the intake of the keg coupler and into the keg at a high pressure for a short period of time. The liquid cleaner is then forced out of a keg coupler exhaust. The steps are repeated until the inside of the keg is clean. Due to the repeated surges from the pump and the surges from the air or CO2 the inside of the keg is thoroughly cleaned.

Abstract: A biopellet reactor for marine aquariums. The invention is functionally dependent upon a unique fluidizing plate located between the water inlet port at the base and the media reaction chamber above. This fluidizing plate converts the upward momentum of the incoming water stream into a cyclonic flow in the reaction chamber.

Abstract: An upflow continuous backwash deep bed sand filter (UCBF) having a recycle line for returning carbonaceous denitrifying bacteria attached to biomass to the influent of the UCBF. The recycle line returns the biomass to the treatment process at a location upstream of the upflow continuous backwash filter. Further, a liquid level control unit is provided that reduces fluctuations and significant drop in the liquid level upstream of the upflow continuous backwash filter, thereby avoiding or minimizing flow turbulences, air induction, and undesirable wastewater aeration resulting in the need to dose excessive carbon source to remove dissolved oxygen in the aerated wastewater.

Abstract: The present invention provides for a multi-stage water treatment system for a plurality of aqueous solutions generated in municipal and industrial processes, e.g., oil and gas field operations, poultry processing, meat processing, dairy processing, and mineral extraction among others. A sequence of different processing steps is carried out, based on the characterization of the composition of contaminants present in the water to be treated. The steps to be carried out include chemical reaction in a series of reactor tanks, sedimentation in slanted plates chamber, air flotation and disinfection, hydrocarbon recovery by a scraper located in a flotation cell. A series of conventional methods are selected to be applied in series for the removal of the contaminants. The process design of an integrated chemical reaction, sedimentation and oxidation system to be used in water treatment of aqueous effluents is presented which is suitable for municipal and industrial processes.

Abstract: Layered glass structures and fabrication methods are described. The methods include depositing soot on a dense glass substrate to form a composite structure and sintering the composite structure to form a layered glass structure. The dense glass substrate may be derived from an optical fiber preform that has been modified to include a planar surface. The composite structure may include one or more soot layers. The layered glass structure may be formed by combining multiple composite structures to form a stack, followed by sintering and fusing the stack. The layered glass structure may further be heated to softening and drawn to control linear dimensions. The layered glass structure or drawn layered glass structure may be configured as a planar waveguide.
