Abstract: A grinding machine for machining workpieces includes a workpiece headstock and two grinding headstocks. A first grinding headstock has two grinding spindles each with one grinding wheel for grinding first and second planar and non-planar external surfaces. A second grinding headstock has a grinding spindle having a grinding wheel for grinding a central bore in the workpiece, and a clamping device to clamp the workpiece. First, the bore and the first planar and any non-planar external surface are ground on one side of the workpiece. Then, the workpiece is clamped in the bore. The second planar external surface can then be ground in the same grinding machine with one of the grinding wheels of the first headstock. The clamping device attached to the second grinding headstock is such that the central axis of the clamping device is exactly aligned with the central axis of the workpiece headstock.

Abstract: Deep machine learning methods and apparatus related to manipulation of an object by an end effector of a robot. Some implementations relate to training a semantic grasping model to predict a measure that indicates whether motion data for an end effector of a robot will result in a successful grasp of an object; and to predict an additional measure that indicates whether the object has desired semantic feature(s). Some implementations are directed to utilization of the trained semantic grasping model to servo a grasping end effector of a robot to achieve a successful grasp of an object having desired semantic feature(s).

Abstract: A mobile robot employing a method and a system for localizing the mobile robot using external surveillance cameras acquires images from the surveillance cameras installed indoors adjacent to each other, recognizes objects included in the images by removing shadows from the images and performing a homography scheme, and avoids the recognized objects. The mobile robot employing the method and the system for localizing the mobile robot using the external surveillance cameras enables rapider localization and lower price as compared with a conventional image-based autonomous robot, so that the commercialization of a service robot is accelerated.

Abstract: A method of path planning for array-based pick-and-place performed with a robotic arm is characterized in that: during each instance of the pick-and-place process performed with the robotic arm, an X-axis position sensor and a Y-axis position sensor sense coordinate errors of a pick-and-place point such that a controller calculates a position compensation value according to the sum of vectors of the coordinate errors, corrects the pick-and-place position of the robotic arm according to the position compensation value, and generates the coordinates of the next pick-and-place point. By repeating the aforesaid process flow, it is feasible to perform plenty array-based pick-and-place jobs.

Abstract: To provide a hand stocker with a simple structure. A hand stocker housing a hand for attaching on an actuator includes a housing board that houses the hand in a hung state and includes a hanging mechanism hanging the hand on a board surface facing the hand. The hanging mechanism includes: a hooking member that extends in a horizontal direction from the board surface to engage with a hanging portion disposed in the hand; a pressing member that prevents the hand hung on the hooking member from moving to a direction separating from the board surface; and a supporting member that restricts the hand hung on the hooking member from moving to a direction approaching the board surface. The hand is sandwiched between the pressing member and the supporting member and housed.

Abstract: A razor that facilitates a user's removal of shaving lubricant, cut hairs, and other shaving-related debris, from around, and between, the razor's blade(s). A scoop at the upper portion of the razor's blade assembly funnels water to the blade channel in which the blades are affixed, and at least a portion of that water flows around and/or over the blade(s). The scoop captures, and directs through the razor's blades, a greater volume of water per unit time than can be achieved with an unmodified blade assembly. The cross-sectional area of the scoop's inflow mouth is greater than that of the blade channel's outflow mouth, thereby promoting a Venturi effect which increases the speed of the water's flow over the blades.
