Abstract: A request to establish a communication session between the first communication endpoint and a second communication endpoint is received. For example, the request may be a Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) INVITE message to establish a voice communication session. A security classification for the communication session is determined. For example, the determined security classification may be that the call is top secret or unclassified. The security classification is not based on whether the communication session is solely encrypted. The security classification is inserted into the request to establish the communication session. The request to establish the communication session with the security classification is sent to the second communication endpoint. This allows the second endpoint to display the security classification. A similar process is used in a response to the request to establish the communication session to convey the security classification to the first communication endpoint.

Abstract: In one embodiment, a cluster manager partitions media data into multiple media data partitions, each of which is to be processed by a computing node of a computing system. A platform module in a computing node receives a number of media files included in a media data partition. The platform module encodes each media file from an original format into a predefined format. The platform module then combines or serializes each encoded media file into a single stream of serialized data, and transmits it to a user module in the computing node. The user module separates from each other the received encoded media files. The user module then decodes each separated, encoded media file from the predefined format into the original format, and performs a specific media processing operation on each decoded file. Examples of the media processing operation include classification, image transformation, and feature extraction.

Abstract: Approaches for allocating bit rates to multiple digital video streams. Bit rates may be allocated to digital video streams by permitting any unit of digital video carried by the digital video streams to be a member of a set of digital content that is constrained by a sum of bit rates assigned to members of the set. To do so, a first set of bit rates to assign to each of the digital video streams is determined. Thereafter, a second set of bit rates to assign to each shared unit of digital video, which appears in two or more of the digital video streams, is determined. This may involve identifying the lowest bit rate assigned to each shared unit of digital video across the two or more bit rate pools. A remaining bit rate allotment is allocated to non-shared units of digital video within the digital video streams.

A server in a cloud-based platform maintains a set of read/write metadata that is associated in one-to-one correspondence to stored objects that are accessible by two or more collaborators. The server does not maintain a list of peers that communicate over peer-to-peer connections, rather the server exposes a semaphore for access to the metadata that pertains to a particular one of the stored objects. The server responds to download requests from the collaborators so as to deliver executable signaling protocol computer code to the collaborators' user devices. The signaling protocol code includes semaphore access by the collaborators' user devices using an application programming interface. Abstract: The method for assigning a tag (T) with an action for a network device (N) within a network comprising a management server (M),a control device (S) and the network device reads the tag with the control device; the tag transmitting a unique tag ID and a URL to the control device. The control device (S) reads the URL and connects with the management server (M), in case the tag has no action assigned, an action to be performed by the network device (N) is selected for the tag from a list on the control device, the management server is informed about the selected action. The management server stores the selected action in a memory of the management server, and the control device communicates with the network device (N) to inform the network device (N) to perform the action.

Abstract: The disclosure is directed to moving an application, e.g., a messenger service in a social networking application, to various locations in a distributed computing system, e.g., to improve an efficiency of the application. For example, the application can be moved to a data center that is closer to a location of a user to decrease a latency associated with accessing the application. In another example, the application can be moved to a data center that is closer to a location of a storage system that stores data associated with the application to improve a throughput of the application, e.g., a rate at which data is read and/or written.

Abstract: A base station according to a first aspect is used in a mobile communication system supporting a D2D proximity service which enables direct device to device communication. The base station comprises: a controller that determines whether to allow a user terminal to execute transmission/reception operations of a D2D synchronization signal to directly establish device to device synchronization; and a transmitter configured to transmit information indicating results of the determination to the user terminal. The controller performs the determination based on D2D range information indicating a permissible communication range of the user terminal in the D2D proximity service.

Abstract: An online system receives a posted content item from a posting user. The online system labels the posted content item with an audience, the audience being a subset of a group of users having an affinity to a topic of the online system, the subset of the group of users sharing a particular treatment regarding the topic. After identifying an opportunity to present content to a viewing user, the online system selects candidate content items, and scores each candidate content item by determining whether the candidate content item is associated with an audience that includes the viewing user, and if so, modifying the score of the candidate content item to be higher. The online system ranks the candidate content items based on the associated score, selects a subset of the candidate content items based on the associated ranking, and presents the selected subset to the viewing user.

Abstract: Systems and methods for causing display of a messaging achievement pictograph based on messaging activity are provided. In some example embodiments, a message activity communication is received by a messaging activity service from a client device, the messaging active communication causing and adjustment to a message activity score and the message activity score transgressing a first threshold activity score. Responsive to the message activity transgressing the first threshold activity score, an achievement pictograph is displayed on the client device. In some example embodiments, the pictograph may be ephemeral and removal of the pictograph may be triggered by a designated time or by the message activity score transgressing a second threshold activity score. In some example embodiments, a notification is generated that notifies a user of the display or removal from display of the achievement pictograph.

Abstract: Technologies are generally described for systems, methods, and devices for implementing device and session identification. In some examples, a processor may receive a first communication from a device. The first communication may include requests to interact with a web page, a session identifier associated with the first communication, and a protocol address associated with the device. The processor may receive a second communication from the device. The second communication may include a device identifier associated with the device, where the device identifier may be different from the internet protocol address, and the session identifier. The processor may link the first communication with the device identifier based on the session identifier. The processor may further analyze the first communication with respect to the device identifier to produce an analyzed first communication.

Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for managing data proxies. The systems and methods enable a proxy management system to store and manage data proxies that digitally represent real-world objects equipped with sensors. The data proxy of an object is made up of data sampled by the object's sensors and data estimated using the sampled data. The sampling rate at which the data is sampled can be optimized such that it conforms with target quality of data (QoD) requirements and/or target data acquisition costs. The QoD requirements can be based on requirements set by each of the applications associated with an object. The proxy management system can use the sampled data and estimated data to (1) ensure that incoming messages, if executed, would not have negative consequences; and (2) monitor objects to determine if and when they are expected to approach undesirable states, or if they have already reached such undesirable states.
