Abstract: A method of controlling a HVAC system of a vehicle includes repeatedly sensing an area of a window of the vehicle that is not covered by frost with a sensor positioned adjacent the window. When the sensed area not covered by frost is less than an area threshold value, a HVAC controller controls the HVAC system to operate in a defrost mode. When the sensed area not covered by frost is equal to or greater than the area threshold value the HVAC controller controls the HVAC system to operate in a cabin heating mode. The HVAC controller automatically switches the HVAC system from the defrost mode to the cabin heating mode when the sensed area not covered by frost increases to a value that is equal to or greater than the area threshold value.

Abstract: There is provided a vehicle air conditioning apparatus that can prevent the amount of the refrigerant discharged from the compressor from reducing when an outside air temperature is low to achieve a heating performance required for a heating operation, and also can dehumidify the vehicle interior without deteriorating the heating performance during a heating and dehumidifying operation. The vehicle air conditioning apparatus includes: a heat released refrigerant expansion valve that decompresses the refrigerant discharged from the radiator during the heating operation and the first heating and dehumidifying operation; a gas-liquid separator that separates the refrigerant decompressed by the heat released refrigerant expansion valve into a gaseous refrigerant and a liquid refrigerant; and a bypass circuit that allows part of at least the gaseous refrigerant separated in the gas-liquid separator to flow into a section of the compressor through which the refrigerant being decompressed passes.

Abstract: An ejector refrigeration cycle device includes: a radiator that dissipates heat from a refrigerant discharged from a compressor; an ejector module that decompresses the refrigerant cooled by the radiator; and an evaporator that evaporates a liquid-phase refrigerant separated in a gas-liquid separation space of the ejector module. A grille shutter is disposed as an inflow-pressure increasing portion between the radiator and a cooling fan blowing the outside air toward the radiator. The grille shutter is operated to decrease the volume of the outside air to be blown toward the radiator when an outside air temperature is equal to or lower than a reference outside air temperature, thereby increasing the pressure of the inflow refrigerant to flow into a nozzle passage of the ejector module.

Abstract: A battery level management system for an electric vehicle during a powered down and uncharged period is disclosed. A current output from a low voltage battery of the electric vehicle being above a threshold can be sensed to wake up a control unit associated with the low voltage battery without waking up or fully powering other control units. Upon waking up, the control unit associated with the low voltage battery can start monitoring the current output from the low voltage battery and controlling the power drawn from the low voltage battery by enabling or disabling other control units to manage the remaining low voltage battery power level.

Abstract: A starting control method and system of a fuel cell vehicle are provided. The method includes detecting a cold-running-mode condition including a fuel-cell coolant temperature during stoppage of the vehicle and determining whether the coolant temperature is less than a first set value that is preset in a memory. A vehicle restarting process in the memory is then set using information regarding a vehicle state during the stoppage of the vehicle when the coolant temperature is less than the first set value.

Abstract: A traveling control apparatus includes an operation amount calculating unit for calculating the amount of operations for controlling at least one of a driving mechanism and a braking mechanism of a vehicle to make the difference between a target position and the actual position of the vehicle small; a determining unit for determining whether the actual position follows the target position; and a target position setting unit for setting the target position that changes with time passage, when it is determined by the determining unit that the actual position follows the target position. The target position setting unit sets the target position so a change in the target position with the time passage becomes smaller than that in the case where it is determined that the actual position follows the target position, when it is determined by the determining unit that the actual position does not follow the target position.
