Abstract: A composite heat storage material includes a heat storage material and an inorganic material. The heat storage material is made of a strongly correlated electron material that stores and dissipates heat via solid-solid phase transition. The inorganic material is different from the material of the heat storage material. The heat storage material and the inorganic material are mixed. The composite heat storage material can have characteristics of both the heat storage material and the inorganic material.

Abstract: Lipophilic super-absorbent swelling gels have been developed that will not only absorb the oil and grease from these machine parts, but will also act as an automated sweeper due to the self-generating mechanical force of the gel. An octadecylacrylate-co-ethylene glycol dimethacrylate (ODA-co-EGDMA) tetraalkylammonium tetraphenylborate lipophilic polyelectrolyte gel (EG-18) and poly(stearylacrylate-co-ethylene glycol dimethacrylate) (SA-co-EGDMA) neutral gel (NG-18) were evaluated for swelling and oil sorption capacity. NG-18 and EG-18 gels removed particulate contaminants and absorbed oils and grease on metal and non-metal surfaces without causing abrasion. The gels are also recyclable. The cleaning ability of the gels was compared with the standard solvent cleaner trichloroethylene (TCE) following ASTM G122-96(2008) test methods and MIL-PRF-680B procedure with MIL-PRF-10924 test grease. Polymer gel cleaners exhibited analogous extent and rate of cleaning as the TCE.

Abstract: In general, certain embodiments of the present disclosure provide devices and methods for rapid fermentation. According to various embodiments, a device is provided comprising a container for housing an amount of a carbohydrate solution therein. An atomizer coupled to the container converts the carbohydrate solution into an aerosol suspension of particles that is emitted into a first chamber. A first panel separating the first chamber from a second chamber includes a fermentation agent thereon. The carbohydrate solution is emitted as the aerosol suspension of particles into the first chamber and onto the first panel such that the carbohydrate solution is fermented by the fermentation agent. The carbohydrate solution is collected in the second chamber and is returned to the atomizer until the carbohydrate solution has been fermented to a desired state. In certain embodiments, the fermentation agent comprises a yeast culture or other microorganism.
