    Abstract: Electrical fence lines provide an electromagnetic barrier to deter crossing. This barrier becomes compromised by lack of power, grounding of the powered lines, and/or loss of upright structure. Although some monitoring systems use audio and visual alerts (ie horns and blinking lights), they require immediate observation for immediate attention. Radio wave alerts are limited in range and receivers. Cellular phone networks are sometimes used with telecommunication monitoring systems but require specific carriers to communicate to certain cellular devices based on the technology (ie GSM, CDMA) used by the carrier. With the Smart Stake, the Internet and any communications server can be used to send alerts to any cellular device, email address, or networked device on the conditions of the electric fence.

    Abstract: An on-vehicle system for assessing an operator's efficiency of a vehicle, include sensors, an audiovisual display device, a processor and a data storage. The sensors measure or detect conditions of components of the vehicle, and convert the detected conditions into analog or digital information. The data storage stores program instructions, the analog or digital information from the sensors, and other data. The program instructions, when executed by the processor, control the on-vehicle system to determine a state of the vehicle within a vehicle's environment based on the analog or digital information from the sensors, determine whether one or more of a predetermined set of behaviors has occurred based on the determined state of a vehicle, assess performance of the determined one or more of the predetermined set of behaviors, and present the operator, via the audiovisual display device, a feedback based on the assessment.

The microcontroller receives a command via the communications module to create a braille character on the first braille cell in response to the conductive material contacting the display of the touchscreen device, the braille character corresponding to a character displayed on the display of the touchscreen device at the location the conductive material contacts the display.

The device is designed to teach dialysis technicians/nurses or patients to cannulate arteriovenous (AV) fistulas for hemodialysis. The simulator includes one or more artificial fistulas. The simulator includes a pad of simulated flesh that can cover the artificial fistula(s). The pad can be reversed, rotated, and replaced with thicker or thinner pads. A personal simulation device for teaching self-cannulation can include a sleeve for a limb that can carry an artificial fistula. A clinical simulation device can include a plurality of artificial fistulas held in a support. Optionally, the artificial fistulas can vibrate to simulate an actual fistula.
