Publication number: 20170320077Abstract: A method of forming a material structure from structural units contained within a liquid solution in a spray head is described. The liquid solution includes a solvent and a solute, the solute comprising a plurality of the structural units, the structural units including monomer units, oligomer units, or combinations thereof. The method comprises forming droplets of the liquid solution including the structural units, and spraying the droplets on a substrate, thereby substantially increasing the reactivity of the structural units within the droplets relative to the structural units within the liquid solution in the spray head. The increase in reactivity can result from the droplets containing an excess of a particular ion, the ion excess resulting from a voltage applied to conductive walls of the device which dispenses the droplets. The material structure is then formed on the substrate from the more highly reactive structural units within the droplets.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 26, 2017Publication date: November 9, 2017Inventor: James T. Publication number: 20170320121Abstract: A tool may be used to shape and/or partially press harden a workpiece. In some examples, the tool may comprise a main body having a surface, as well as a heat conducting system containing a thermal medium. The heat conducting system is integrated in the tool in such a way that, for the heating of the surface, a heat radiating from a heat source is conducted by means of the heat conducting system to the surface of the main body. Further, the heat conducting system may comprise a thermal oil or a melt as the thermal medium. The surface of the main body may be configured to face the workpiece during the shaping or partial press hardening of the workpiece.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 29, 2015Publication date: November 9, 2017Applicants: ThyssenKrupp Steel Europe AG, thyssenkrupp AGInventors: Sascha Sikora, Stéphane Graff, Janko Banik

Publication number: 20170320122Abstract: A sheet-shaped blank (10) for press forming is produced by shearing a metal sheet (30). The blank (10) includes a sheared edge (14), which includes a sheared surface (14b) and a fractured surface (14c) in the sheet thickness direction and has a loop shape in plan view. In plan view, an edge of the sheared edge (14) includes concavely curved portions (20). The average of lengths of the fractured surface (14c) in the sheet thickness direction in the curved portions (20) is greater than the average of lengths of the fractured surface (14c) in the sheet thickness direction over the entire perimeter of the sheared edge (14).Type: ApplicationFiled: December 10, 2014Publication date: November 9, 2017Inventors: Takashi MATSUNO, Akira EGAMI

Publication number: 20170320125Abstract: A description is given of a method and a device for forging a rod-shaped workpiece (5) which is deformed with the aid of forging tools (1, 2, 3, 4) in the sense of a cross-sectional displacement perpendicular to the forging axis (a) and is subjected to an axial advancement and possibly a rotation about the forging axis (a) during the pauses in the engagement of the forging tools (1, 2, 3, 4). In order to achieve an advantageous grain refinement, it is proposed that the workpiece (5) is deformed in the sense of the cross-sectional displacement perpendicular to the forging axis (a) in a bending zone (13) between two central supports (11) by means of the forging tools (1, 2, 3, 4) acting on the workpiece (5) radially in relation to the forging axis (a).Type: ApplicationFiled: December 15, 2015Publication date: November 9, 2017Applicant: GFM - GmbHInventor: Robert KOPPENSTEINER
