  • Patent number: 9821510
Abstract: A three-dimensionally printed object includes a plurality of different material regions that together define a surface region of the object. The plurality of different material regions includes a first material region and a second material region. The first material region has a first color, and the second material region has a second color that is different from the first color. The different material regions overlap from each other within the object by different amounts viewed from different directions so that different proportions of light from the plurality of different material regions are visible to an observer viewing the surface region of the three-dimensionally printed object from different view directions, different view angles, and with illumination lighting the surface region at different angles. A coloration of the surface region is altered based on the proportions of light from the plurality of different material regions visible to the observer.

  • Patent number: 9821517
Abstract: Embodiments relate to an operating system configured to enable arbitrary applications to output 3D models to be physically formed by arbitrary 3D manufacturing devices. The operating system manages the 3D manufacturing devices, including installation of related software, device drivers, device properties, and so forth. The operating system also provides a path through which the arbitrary applications pass arbitrary print jobs (or documents) of 3D models, in a standard format, to the 3D manufacturing devices. The operating system handles queuing and spooling on behalf of the applications and the 3D manufacturing devices. Drivers of the 3D manufacturing devices may translate the 3D models outputted by the applications (in the standard format) to instructions or device language content that is specific to the respective 3D manufacturing devices.

The self-aligning stencil device includes a central panel and a plurality of stencil panels foldably connected to the central panel. The central panel includes a solid region and a cut-out region. The solid region of the central panel includes a front surface and a back surface, and is defined by an outer border of the central panel and an inner border of the central panel. The cut-out region is vacant space that is defined by the inner border of the central panel. Each stencil panel has its own distinct stencil pattern and is foldably connected to a different corresponding portion of the outer border of the central panel, thereby forming a connection fold between each stencil panel and its corresponding portion of the outer border of the central panel.
