Abstract: A capacitance-sensing circuit may include a channel input associated with measuring a capacitance of a unit cell of a capacitive sense array. The capacitance-sensing circuit may also include a capacitive hardware baseliner that is coupled to the channel input. The capacitive hardware baseliner includes a programmable baseline resistor, and a buffer with an input coupled to the programmable baseline resistor and an output coupled to the channel input. The capacitive hardware baseliner generates a baseline current based on a time constant of the channel input associated with the measuring of the capacitance of the element of the capacitive sense array using the programmable baseline resistor. The capacitive hardware baseliner provides the baseline current at the channel input to provide a charge for a sense capacitor. A change in the charge of the sense capacitor is provided by the baseline current indicating a presence of a touch object proximate to the element.

Abstract: An electronic handwriting device (e.g., a tablet device or smart phone) detects a first touch and a second touch (e.g., from a pen device) on or near a writing surface of the electronic handwriting device. The electronic handwriting device determines whether the first touch is a dropped touch. Upon determining that the first touch is a dropped touch, the electronic handwriting device applies data filtering to data that is potentially associated with the second touch. After the data filtering step, the electronic handwriting device determines whether to generate a stitching segment between a first line segment associated with the dropped touch and a second line segment associated with the second touch. The determination of whether to generate the stitching segment also may be based on other factors, such as the proximity of the second touch to the dropped touch.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and apparatus for receiving data corresponding to a contact by a user detected at a touch-sensitive device. Variations in the contact over time are analyzed, and an anchor confidence score that is indicative of whether the contact represents a user input made using the touch-sensitive device is determined based at least on the analysis of the variations in the contact over time. The contact is classified as an anchor based at least on the anchor confidence score. Based on classifying the contact as an anchor, the contact is not processed as a user input to the touch-sensitive device.

Abstract: A system and method for performing frame-phase synchronization on received frames of signal on a touch detector. An apparatus and method for synchronizing frames with the phase of one or more simultaneously transmitted signals on a touch detector. One or more row conductors and one or more column conductors are arranged such that the path of the row conductor(s) cross the path of the column conductor(s). A signal emitter simultaneously initiates transmission of orthogonal signals on each of the rows at each of a plurality of intervals starting at a first time, the orthogonal signals having a known initial phase. A receiver starts receiving frames on the column at each of the intervals, starting at a later time. A signal processor determines a measure of the extent to which each of the orthogonal signals are present within the received frame—and thus, the extent to which they were transmitted across the touch detector.

Abstract: An input apparatus includes a plurality of electrodes spaced apart from each other, a signal processing unit configured to output an input signal depending on a change in a capacitance of each electrode, and a determination unit configured to determine whether an operation object comes in a proximity of at least one of electrodes based on input signals output from the signal processing unit. The determination unit makes a determination such that in a case where one of the input signals is greater than or equal to a first threshold value and an integral value of another of the plurality of input signals in a predetermined integration period is greater than or equal to a second threshold value, it is determined that an operation object has come in a proximity of an electrode corresponding to the one of the input signals.

Abstract: An apparatus for preventing malfunctions of a touchpad disposed near an antenna is provided. An NFC coil is disposed underneath a touchpad. In NFC, an NFC card approaches the surface of the touchpad. A touch controller sets the detection sensitivity of a finger to a reference value when an NFC module does not emit alternating magnetic fluxes. The touch controller reduces the detection sensitivity at the timing when the NFC coil starts the emission of the alternating magnetic fluxes. The touch controller returns the detection sensitivity to the reference value at the timing when the NFC coil stops the emission of the alternating magnetic fluxes. The NFC module directly transmits a signal with which the touch controller changes the detection sensitivity to the touch controller through a hardware line.
