  • Patent number: 9857577
Abstract: A microscope and imaging method in which a layer of the sample is illuminated by a thin strip of light and the sample is viewed perpendicular to the plane of the strip of light. The depth of the strip of light thus essentially determines the depth of focus of the system. To record the image, the object is displaced through the strip of light, which remains fixed in relation to the detector, and fluorescent and/or diffused light is captured by a planar detector. Objects that absorb or diffuse a large amount of light are viewed from several spatial directions. The three-dimensional images, which are captured from each direction can be combined retrospectively to form one image, in which the data is weighted according to its resolution. The resolution of the combined image is then dominated by the lateral resolution of the individual images.

  • Patent number: 9857583
Abstract: Aspects herein describe an optical delay controller which introduces a desired delay into an optical signal. To do so, the optical delay controller includes multiple reflective surfaces (e.g., mirrors) that establish a closed loop on which an input signal propagates. The optical delay controller includes an output interface that outputs a delayed version of the input optical signal where the delay corresponds to the circumference of the closed loop. For example, the optical delay loop may use a Brewster window as the output interface which permits the optical signal propagating in the closed loop to exit the loop. Moreover, the optical delay loop may include one or more actuators that move the reflective surfaces forming the closed loop relative to each other. Changing the distance between two mirrors changes the delay introduced by the optical delay loop.

Abstract: Transducers and methods of making the same include a substrate having a cavity with a diameter that supports whispering gallery modes at a frequency of an input signal. A focusing structure in the cavity focuses the electric field of the input signal. A resonator directly under the focusing structure has a crystalline structure that generates an electro-optic effect when exposed to electrical fields. An electric field of the input signal modulates an output signal in the resonator via the electro-optic effect.

Abstract: A first electrode 30 for the touch panel is formed on an outer side of a counter substrate 200, and the protection film 210 is formed over the first electrode 30 to cover it. A defect 211 in the protection film 210 is filled in with another protection film 210 by inkjet coating. The surface of the protection film 210 is rubbed to a rough surface finish. The polarization plate 220 is attached to the rough surface of the protection film 210 via an adhesive material 221. Since the defective region is repaired by the formation of the protection film 210, corrosion of the first electrode (wiring) 30 due to the presence of the adhesive material 221 can be prevented, and since the surface of the second protection film 210 is made rough, a resulting increase in adhering surface area enhances the adhesion for attaching the polarization plate 220.
