Abstract: Consumable feed products and vegetation are delivered to animals using a single container in which the container holds the feed product and is used to deliver the feed and which includes ungerminated seeds embedded in the container body. The seeds are caused to germinate and produce vegetation from the container body, and the germinated seeds and/or vegetation is fed to the animal. Multiple containers may be used simultaneously so that while the consumable feed product from one container is used to feed an animal, another container may be used to grow vegetation or deliver vegetation to the animal. Confined birds such as poultry and chicks may benefit from ingesting feed and vegetation produced from such containers.

Abstract: Implementations described and claimed herein involve an easy fill bird feeding system. In one implementation, a depression is received of a release button on a cap assembly connected to a body defining a reservoir. The cap assembly has a cap opening providing access to the reservoir. A lid of the cap assembly is released at a first side upon the depression of the release button. The lid is moved from a closed position to an open position using a bias of a spring assembly upon the release of the lid. The lid moves from the closed position to the open position along a rotation path created by a hinge at a second side. The lid is held in the open position by the spring bias, and the open position provides access to the reservoir through the cap opening. Birdseed is received through the cap opening into the reservoir.

Abstract: A hunting decoy apparatus, wherein the decoy exhibits lifelike movements controlled mechanically by a user. The apparatus comprises an outer sleeve member and a movable slidable member slidably engaged within the outer sleeve member. The outer sleeve member attaches to the ground. The decoy stand is inserted into the movable sliding member and extends perpendicular from the outer sleeve member in an upward direction with a decoy on top. The distal ends of the slidable inner sleeve member and the outer sleeve member are connected by an extension limiting biasing element such as a spring or elastic cord. A tether is attachable to the proximal end of the movable slidable member. To activate movement of the decoy, the tether is pulled and released by the user causing the decoy and decoy stand to move within the slot forward and backwards. Small tugs on the tether by the user causes the decoy to move in lifelike movements creating the appearance the decoy is bobbing and pecking like a wild bird.

Abstract: A process is described for the production of a packaged shelf-stable sponge-type bakery product. The process includes a) preparation of a first mixture batter containing sugar, flour, oils and/or fats etc.; b) emulsification and dosing of the first batter on a baking surface; c) pre-steaming baking the first batter with the formation of a layer of semi-baked mixture; d) dosing of a filling inside the layer of semi-baked mixture of step c), placed in a baking mold and thus obtaining an open filled semi-finished product; e) preparation of a second mixture batter containing sugar, flour, fats and/or oils etc.; f) emulsification and dosing of the second batter on the open and filled semi-finished product of step d), thus obtaining a covered and filled semi-finished product; g) steam baking the product obtained in step f) to form a baked and filled bakery product; h) cooling; and i) packaging of the baked and filled bakery product.

Abstract: A pneumatic stunner for stunning an animal has a piston slideable within an inner chamber, and a stunning rod driven by the piston forward and rearward towards and away from the front end of the housing. A fire pressure chamber has an annular configuration disposed adjacent the rearward or central end of the inner chamber. A return pressure chamber has an annular configuration disposed adjacent the forward or central end of the inner chamber. A valve system alternately controls flow of the pressurized fluid from the fire pressure chamber to the rearward end of the inner chamber to move the piston and drive the stunning rod forward to stun an animal, and from the return pressure chamber to the forward end of the inner chamber to move the piston and drive the stunning rod rearward and retract the stunning rod. The handle includes a cushioned mount adjustable in direction.

Abstract: An animal stunner for use in livestock/slaughterhouse operations has a piston slideable within an inner chamber, and a fire pressure chamber with an annular configuration disposed adjacent the rearward or central end of the inner chamber. A stunning rod is driven forward by the piston to stun the animal and rearward to retract the rod. A valve system alternately controls flow of the pressurized fluid from the fire pressure chamber to the rearward end of the inner chamber to move the piston and drive the stunning rod. A catch system holds and releases the stunning rod. A compressed fluid supply is used to retract the stunning rod between operation cycles. Handles employing triggers are used by the operator to hold the stunner and to activate the valve system, and cushion mount systems are attached between the handles and stunner housing to absorb shock while operating the stunner.

Abstract: This invention provides processes comprising contacting at least one unopened defeathered poultry carcass with water containing a microbiocidal composition, optionally opening and eviscerating at least one unopened defeathered poultry carcass that was wetted; subjecting at least one eviscerated poultry carcass to inside-outside washing with water containing a microbiocidal composition; placing at least one eviscerated poultry carcass in a chill tank into contact with chill water containing a microbiocidal composition; contacting parts of poultry resulting from processing of poultry containing a microbiocidal composition. The water in these processes contains a microbiocidal composition comprising I) one or more surfactants and II) a microbiocidal amount of a biocide. The surfactants include amine oxides and/or betaines. The biocides include various chlorine-based and bromine-based biocides; chlorine dioxide; and peracetic acid.
