Abstract: A method and a corresponding plant for denitrifying bypass exhaust gases in a cement clinker production plant. Raw meal is sintered in a rotary kiln and deacidified in a calciner. A rotary kiln inlet chamber is connected to the calciner directly or by a riser duct. Bypass exhaust gas is drawn off near the inlet chamber. This exhaust gas is guided into a first mixing chamber, in which the exhaust gas is cooled to between 800 and 950 degrees C., then the exhaust gas is guided through a reaction pipeline segment, wherein the dwell time is between 0.5 and 3 seconds and ammonia, aqueous ammonia solution, or ammonia-releasing substances are injected for denitrification. Then the exhaust gas is guided into a second mixing chamber, in which the exhaust gas is cooled to between 150 250 degrees C. Then the exhaust gas is guided to a filter for dust removal.

Abstract: A method of measuring scanning characteristics of an optical scanning apparatus allows measurement of scanning characteristics of an actuator. The method includes bringing a tip of the optical scanning apparatus and a chart for measuring scanning characteristics closer together and irradiating illumination light with the actuator in a non-driven state, separating the tip and the chart for measuring scanning characteristics by a predetermined distance while maintaining the relative orientations thereof, and adjusting a drive signal of the actuator so that a scanning area of the illumination light on the chart for measuring scanning characteristics can form a desired shape. At least one of an angle of deviation and a viewing angle is measured using an irradiation position of the illumination light on the chart for measuring scanning characteristics.

Abstract: A surface topography analysis invokes a sensor device for receiving a series of values from a sensor element of measurement equipment adapted to quantify an input stimuli into a surface height value, and computes consecutive curvatures from the received series of values. An aggregate value (sum) of the consecutive curvatures is compared to a threshold, and based on the comparison, the approach concludes that at least one of the consecutive curvatures corresponds to an outlier. The set of values are based on a signal that is continuous, although not necessarily differentiable, as received from the measurement equipment. Such measurement equipment embodying the sensor device may further comprise at least one of atomic probe microscopes, interferometric microscopes, confocal microscopes, scanning laser microscopes, profiling instruments, scanners, and CMMs.

Abstract: A MEMS gyroscope, wherein a suspended mass is mobile with respect to a supporting structure. The mobile mass is affected by quadrature error caused by a quadrature moment; a driving structure is coupled to the suspended mass for controlling the movement of the mobile mass in a driving direction at a driving frequency. Motion-sensing electrodes, coupled to the mobile mass, detect the movement of the mobile mass in the sensing direction and quadrature-compensation electrodes are coupled to the mobile mass to generate a compensation moment opposite to the quadrature moment. The gyroscope is configured to bias the quadrature-compensation electrodes with a compensation voltage so that the difference between the resonance frequency of the mobile mass and the driving frequency has a preset frequency-mismatch value.

Abstract: Coherent radar returns gained from Ultra-Wideband Radars are correlated with features extracted from a georeferenced map to refine positional information and pose of an object. Data collected from one or more UWB Radars and other real time sensors affixed on an object can be processed to identify discrete edges or characteristic returns such as a pole, building or the like. These coherent returns can be correlated with features extracted from a georeferenced map. As the UWB Radar(s) location and orientation with respect to the object is (are) known the precise location and pose of the object on the georeferenced map can be determined by matching features found in the map or imagery with those of the coherent return. Moreover the configuration of the UWB Radars can be modified based on a perception of the local environment.
