Abstract: A trajectory tracking system includes a set of dynamic models, a trajectory database, a trajectory handler, a parameter extractor and a classifier. There is one dynamic model per expected obstacle type and it models an expected trajectory of a point of normal incidence (PNI) of the expected obstacle. The trajectory database stores trajectories for a current set of obstacles being tracked. The trajectory handler at least associates incoming detections to existing trajectories and to update the existing trajectories. The parameter extractor periodically extracts parameters from the trajectories and the classifier classifies obstacles associated with the trajectories at least based on the parameters of the trajectories and on associated the dynamic models for the trajectories.

Abstract: Disclosed herein are techniques for measuring a reference beam and a corresponding returned beam from a target in a measurement system using a single sensor array. The system is configured such that the location of the reference beam is space apart from the location of the returned beam on the sensor array. A first set of sensor elements on the sensor array corresponding to the reference beam is dynamically activated based on a laser beam scanning control signal. The detection signal from the first set of sensor elements is used to determine a location and/or a pattern of the reference beam, which are then used to estimate a location and/or a pattern of the corresponding returned beam on the same sensor array and dynamically select and activate a second set of sensor elements on the sensor array based on the estimated location and/or pattern of the corresponding returned beam.

Abstract: This provides methods and systems for V2X applications, such as forward collision warning, electronic emergency brake light, left turn assist, work zone warning, signal phase timing, and others, mainly relying on a GNSS positioning solution transmitted via the Dedicated Short-Range Communications (DSRC) to/from the roadside units and onboard units in other V2X-enabled vehicles. However, the positioning solution from a GNSS may be deteriorated by noise and/or bias due to various error sources, e.g., time delay, atmospheric effect, ephemeris effect, and multipath effect. This offers a novel quality filter that can detect noise and the onset of drift in GNSS signals by evaluating up to four metrics that compare the qualities of kinematic variables, speed, heading angle change, curvature, and lateral displacement, obtained directly or derived from GNSS and onboard vehicle sensors. This is used for autonomous cars and vehicle safety, with various examples/variations.

Abstract: Apparatus determines whether a stored object is a wafer alone or a frame unit formed by uniting the wafer and a ring frame. The apparatus includes first and second detecting units, the second detecting unit being stored more shallowly than the first detecting unit. The apparatus determines whether light transmitted by the first detecting unit is blocked by the object and does not reach a light receiving portion of the first detecting unit. When light transmitted from the second detecting unit is blocked by the object and does not reach a light receiving portion of the second detecting unit, the apparatus determines that the object is the frame unit, whereas when the light transmitted from the second detecting unit is not blocked by the object and reaches the light receiving portion of the second detecting unit, the apparatus determines that the object is the wafer.

Abstract: An aspect receiving a new weather forecast. A temporally coherent analog modeling process is performed to identify a historical weather forecast that matches the new weather forecast. The new weather forecast is updated based on historical weather observations at points in time in the historical weather forecast. The updating includes: shifting a point in time in the historical weather forecast based on a factor determined by a previously executed dynamic time warping (DTW) of the historical weather forecast and the historical weather observations; and modifying the new weather forecast based on the historical weather observations at the shifted point in time. The updated new weather forecast is output.

Abstract: A lens coating apparatus is provided. The apparatus includes a mechanical arm configured to receive and maintain lenses in a desired orientation, a loading station configured to receive and maintain the lenses within the enclosed area, and a combined washing and drying station including a spraying mechanism that directs an upward spray toward a bottom surface of the lens, and blowing devices configured to direct air toward the lens after the lens has been washed. The coating apparatus includes a coating station where liquid coating is sprayed toward the bottom surface of the lens and a curing station where the coated lens is exposed to the UV energy radiation. A programmable controller controls the mechanical arm to collect the lens from the loading station without operator intervention, and move along a linear track between the loading station and the combined washing and drying, coating and curing stations.

Abstract: IR emission devices comprising an array of polaritonic IR emitters arranged on a substrate, where the emitters are coupled to a heater configured to provide heat to one or more of the emitters. When the emitters are heated, they produce an infrared emission that can be polarized and whose spectral emission range, emission wavelength, and/or emission linewidth can be tuned by the polaritonic material used to form the elements of the array and/or by the size and/or shape of the emitters. The IR emission can be modulated by the induction of a strain into a ferroelectric, a change in the crystalline phase of a phase change material and/or by quickly applying and dissipating heat applied to the polaritonic nanostructure. The IR emission can be designed to be hidden in the thermal background so that it can be observed only under the appropriate filtering and/or demodulation conditions.
