The method includes initiating generating an icing output signal when the first count is greater than or equal to the first threshold.

Abstract: An evacuation system is provided. The system may comprise a door sill, a girt coupled to the door sill, a slide coupled to the girt, and a measurement device coupled the girt and/or the slide. The measurement device may further comprise a line having a predetermined length and a weight coupled to the line, and the measurement device may be configured to adjust a length of the slide in response to a position of the weight. A method is also provided. The method includes opening a door to expose a door sill, inflating the emergency slide with the emergency slide coupled to the door sill, and deploying a measurement device configured to measure a height of the door sill from a surface. The measurement device may comprise a line coupled to the door sill and a buoyant weight coupled to the line, and wherein the line has a predetermined length.

Abstract: An aircraft comprising at least two engines and an electronic management arrangement comprising a control computer for each engine, each computer being configured for monitoring the operation of its associated engine and for activating an engine protection mode when the engine operation exceeds predetermined operational limits. The electronic management arrangement furthermore comprises an engine interface device to which the control computers are connected, the device prohibiting the activation of a protection mode by a control computer when a protection mode is activated by another control computer. A monitoring device is connected to the control computers and receives an information signal from each control computer to indicate if a protection mode is activated and transmits, in the case where a protection mode is activated on at least two engines, a control signal to the control computer having last activated a protection mode to cancel the activation of the protection mode.

Abstract: A power management system includes a power management and load distribution (PMLD) circuit within an airplane coupled to an AC power source, at least one AC/DC conversion circuit operable to convert the AC power into a DC power, and at least one programmable output capability outlet (PPCO) circuit operable to receive the DC power. The PMLD circuit stores a predetermined maximum power limit, continuously measures a power output, and increases or decreases a power capability setting based on a comparison of the measured power output to the predetermined maximum power limit. The PPCO circuit includes a USB connector couplable to a personal electronic device (PED) of a passenger for charging the PED at an amount of DC power indicated by the power capability setting. The PPCO circuit is also operable to negotiate a power contract with the PED.

Abstract: A jig apparatus and associated systems and methods for forming a composite wing skin is presented, including providing a frame with a working surface. A plurality of indexing blocks are coupled to the working surface of the frame. Each of the plurality of indexing blocks has a first indexing surface oriented perpendicular to the working surface of the frame and a second indexing surface oriented approximately parallel to the working surface of the frame. A plurality of clamping blocks are also each moveably coupled to one of the plurality of indexing blocks. Each of the plurality of clamping blocks has a clamping surface oriented perpendicular to the working surface of the frame and in facing relation to the first indexing surface of an adjacent indexing block thereby defining a plurality of channels.

Abstract: A multi-use resupply system for a space-based platform may include a multi-use tug to swap old and new cargo containers on a launch vehicle upper stage. The system can rely on the launch vehicle upper stage to provide the function of cargo de-orbit and disposal. The launch vehicle upper stage may be provided with sufficient propellant and propulsion functionality to operate for a long enough period in space to maneuver a new cargo container to a rendezvous trajectory, support the swapping of cargo containers, and then perform a de-orbit burn with the old cargo container.

Abstract: Embodiments described herein provide for passive timing of asynchronous Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU) attitude data using information derived from a pattern of skipped and duplicate samples of attitude data generated by the IMU. One embodiment is an attitude controller for a vehicle that generates samples of attitude data at a first frequency (f1) from an IMU of the vehicle. The IMU updates the attitude data at a second frequency (f2). Each update of the attitude data includes a time stamp. The attitude controller is processes time stamps in the samples to identify a pattern of at least one of a skipped sample of an update to the attitude data and a duplicate sample of an update to the attitude data. The attitude controller estimates lag times between updates of the attitude data and samples of the attitude data based on the pattern and a relationship between f1 and f2.

Abstract: An apparatus for packaging dosed quantities of medicines and method for operating such apparatus. The apparatus includes multiple dosing stations for dispensing solid drug portions, and multiple collectors for collecting dosed quantities of solid drug portions and for forwarding the dosed quantities of solid drug portions to a packaging station. Each dosing station has an outlet and each collector has a unique collector identifier. A conveyor includes multiple mounting elements arranged in a chain, wherein each collector is detachably mounted to one of the mounting elements and moved by the conveyor along the dosing stations, so that the collector can receive the solid drug portions dispensed at the outlets of the dosing stations. A controller controls the operation of the dosing stations, the conveyor and the packaging station. Input means (80, 81) are coupled to the control means (19) for inputting the collecting means identifier.

Abstract: Packaging used to hold and ship consumer products may include a packaging insert having an exterior profile that substantially matches an interior profile of the box it is placed in during assembly. In some embodiments, the packaging insert may be formed using a thermo-forming process that inhibits the formation of defects, such as stress marks, located near or on the corners of the packaging insert. The packaging insert may include a side wall having a plurality of extended portions and a plurality of abbreviated portions. In some embodiments, the packaging insert may include a plurality of flaps rotatably connected to a body of the packaging insert.

Abstract: This invention is related to a bottle structure. At least an embedded slot is disposed on a bottle body. A positioning member is disposed on the opening of the embedded slot. The inner edge of the positioning member projects toward the inner side of the opening of the embedded slot to form a stop edge. An embedded fixing part may coordinate with a spirally fixed element to lock the bottle body to a bicycle body. An embedded block of the embedded fixing part is embedded into the embedded slot of the bottle body and against the stop edge of the positioning member. A lug connected the bottom of the embedded block is located against positioning bumps disposed on inner edges of the positioning member to stably install the bottle body on the bicycle body.

Abstract: Tooth protector devices are disclosed for attachment to the top of a bottle to provide protection against injury, including chipping of teeth that can occur during drinking from a glass bottle. One embodiment comprises a concentric sleeve with top lip for insertion over the end of a bottle. Sleeve inner portion is adapted for engaging the bottle outer surface to hold the sleeve in place. The outer and top portions of the sleeve protect the consumer from the top edge of the bottle. When installed, a tooth protector according to the present invention cushions the teeth and mouth from any blunt force or impact that can occur when a bottle is hit or knocked. Also disclosed is a beverage cap with cushioned outer and upper surfaces that remain in place on the beverage bottle after opening the bottle to protect the consumer, and another bottle enclosure without such cushioned surfaces.

Abstract: A serviceable draw and return tube assembly for use in fuel tanks is disclosed. The assembly may include a draw tube and a return tube secured to a plate, wherein the plate may be removably secured to a flange, which is fixedly secured to a fuel tank. The process of removably securing the plate to the flange allows for use of different sizes and materials to be utilized in manufacture of the assembly, thereby saving installation time and manufacturing costs.

Abstract: A detachable handle includes a substantially U-shaped structural member and a second attaching member. A proximal end of the structural member includes a first attaching member and a distal end includes a plurality of clip members and at least one hole to hold a plurality of connection fittings and couplers respectively. A central opening is formed to hold at least one valve assembly when the second attaching member is connected to the first attaching member using at least one fastening member. The detachable handle is designed to keep the plurality of connection fittings and the at least one valve assembly away from the ground and out of the dirt.

Abstract: A handle for attachment to a bail member of a bucket is disclosed. The handle includes a base formed from two interlocking members, a first member frictionally engages a second member, locking the two members together without tools. Upon the interlocking of the first member and second member, a base structure is formed providing a receptacle constructed in a range for receipt of the bail member along an upper section. A centrally disposed cavity may be included in the upper section for receipt of a tubular sleeve commonly found on buckets and employing bail members for carrying heavy weights. The base structure is positioned beneath the bail member wherein a portion of the bail member is insertable into the receptacle. A cover member is secured to the top section of the base structure to conceal the receptacle and secure the bail member within the handle.

The insert includes a product cartridge defining a product containing space and a dispensing body having a dispenser receptacle. The product containing space has a first opening through which product exits, and the dispenser receptacle has a second opening at least partially offset from the first opening through which product enters the dispenser receptacle. The dispenser assembly further includes a push-button assembly attacked to the insert, including a button that moves between first and second positions. The button has an orifice defined therein in communication with one of the first or second openings when in the first position and with the other of the first or second openings when in the second position, such that the button permits transmittal of product between the first and second openings when moved between the first and second positions.

Abstract: By providing a synthetic closure which comprises at least one thermoplastic polymer and, as an additive, at least one fatty acid derivative, in particular a fatty acid ester or a fatty acid amide such as a stearamide, a synthetic closure is attained which achieved substantially enhanced properties. In particular, it has been found that the oxygen transfer rate of the closure is reduced substantially, thus reducing unwanted oxidation of wine. Furthermore, the use of a fatty acid derivative additive improves the performance characteristics of synthetic corks, such as extraction force, ovality control, diameter control and length control.

This makes stable storage of the components possible.

Abstract: A container has elastomeric sheets defining a periphery with four sides. A seal extends about the periphery defining a closed chamber. A separator extends across the closed chamber dividing the closed chamber into a first compartment and a second compartment. The separator includes a rod for wrapping the sheets around the rod to define a dividing portion. A retainer clip presents an inner wall clamped about the dividing portion providing an impermeable closure between the sheets. The sheets define at least two aligned and spaced pockets separated by a gap whereby removing the rod from the retainer clip and inserting the rod into the pockets extending across the gap and clamping the retainer clip over the rod to define a handle. The present invention also includes a method for mixing a first component and a second component in the container and releasing the components.

Abstract: A pocket wax dispenser is constructed of an elongated tubular casing with carriage of an appropriate profile to match the casing slidably fitted within the casing to travel axially within the casing without rotating, and with a piston at the distal end of the carriage. An end cap snaps or screws onto the distal end of casing. This construction results in a wax reservoir being defined in the distal part of the dispenser, i.e., within the casing and between the piston and the end cap and adapted for holding a fill of wax. The end cap has a discharge port, i.e., an opening or aperture, through which wax from within the wax reservoir can be extruded. A cutter blade may be mounted on the cap to cut the extrusion at the discharge port.
