  • Patent number: 9918809
Abstract: An insert for a dental prosthesis screwed onto an implant, in particular of the type having a superstructure and an implant to be integrated in the bone, which are reciprocally joined by a screw. The insert is composed of an element made of a damping material interposed between the coupling surface of the superstructure and the implant. With an insert according to the invention, a dental prosthesis screwed onto an implant is obtained, which reproduces the natural anchoring state of the tooth to the bone, so that the stress peaks on the superstructure are damped before being discharged onto the implant and consequently also onto the bone. An insert according to the invention also offers the advantage of sealing the contact area between the superstructure and the implant, thus preventing dangerous bacterial infiltrations.

  • Patent number: 9918835
Abstract: A medical device for treating a heart valve insufficiency, with an endoprosthesis which can be introduced into a patient's body and expanded to secure a heart valve prosthesis in the patient's aorta. In an embodiment, the endoprosthesis has a plurality of positioning arches configured to be positioned with respect to a patient's aorta and a plurality of retaining arches to support a heart valve prosthesis. The endoprosthesis includes a first collapsed mode during the process of introducing it into the patient's body and a second expanded mode when it is implanted.

  • Patent number: 9918836
Abstract: Packaging for prosthetic heart valves including an assembly for securely retaining a heart valve within a jar and facilitating retrieval therefrom. The assembly includes a packaging sleeve that fits closely within the jar and has a clip structure for securing a valve holder. Contrary to previous designs, in one embodiment the valve holder is directed downward into the jar, and the valve is retained with an inflow end upward. The valve may have flexible leaflets, and a leaflet parting member on the end of the shaft extends through the leaflets and couples with the valve holder. The assembly of the packaging sleeve, valve, and holder can then be removed from the jar and a valve delivery tube connected with the holder, or to the leaflet parting member. The packaging sleeve may be bifurcated into two halves connected at a living hinge to facilitate removal from around the valve/holder subassembly.

  • Patent number: 9918837
Abstract: A delivery device for an implantable medical device having a retention member at an end thereof may include a shaft extending in a longitudinal direction and defining a longitudinal axis, an elongated sheath surrounding a longitudinal portion of the shaft, a compartment defined inside the sheath and adapted to receive the medical device in an assembled condition, a retainer positioned at one end of the compartment, and an energy storage element positioned on the longitudinal portion of the shaft and configured to be radially compressed by the medical device when the elongated sheath covers the compartment containing the medical device. The sheath may be slidable relative to the shaft in the longitudinal direction. The retainer may include a recess adapted to receive the retention member of the medical device in the assembled condition.

  • Patent number: 9918840
Abstract: A method is provided, which includes providing an annuloplasty ring, which comprises (a) a flexible sleeve, and (b) a contracting assembly. During a percutaneous transcatheter procedure, the flexible sleeve is placed entirely around an annulus of a mitral valve of a subject in a closed loop. The sleeve is fastened to the annulus by coupling a plurality of tissue anchors to a posterior portion of the annulus, without coupling any tissue anchors to an anterior portion of the annulus between left and right fibrous trigones of the annulus. Thereafter, a longitudinal portion of the sleeve is contracted. Other embodiments are also described.

  • Patent number: 9918844
Abstract: A tibial prosthesis has a bearing component configured for an anterior-medial insertion, which advantageously avoids the extensor mechanism of the knee. A tibial tray may include a banana-shaped boss that corresponds to a notch formed in the bearing component. After the bearing component is inserted along the anterior-medial path, the boss is received within the notch by rotating the bearing component with respect to the tibial tray. This rotation seat the bearing component upon the tibial tray in the manner of a fixed-bearing prosthesis. Alternatively, the boss and notch may define angled central axes which allow straight anterior-medial insertion of the bearing component and locking engagement to the tibial tray.
