  • Patent number: 9927210
Abstract: A laser designator system using modulated CW laser diodes and a conventional high pixel count image sensor array, such as CCD or CMOS array. These two technologies, diode lasers and imaging sensor arrays are reliable, widely used and inexpensive technologies, as compared with prior art pulsed laser systems. These systems are distinguished from the prior art systems in that they filter the laser signal spatially, by collecting light over a comparatively long period of time from a very few pixels out of the entire field of view of the image sensor array. This is in contrast to the prior art systems where the laser signal is filtered temporarily, over a very short time span, but over a large fraction of the field of view. By spatially filtering the signal outputs of the individual pixels, it becomes possible to subtract the background illumination from the illuminated laser spot.

  • Patent number: 9927239
Abstract: One-axis and two-axis vibratory gyroscopes include a unitary resonator structure conceptually having four beams interconnected in a cross-hatch configuration. While each beam can be considered a unitary piece of material, each beam's attachment to two cross beams conceptually divides the resonant beam into a central section between the attachment points and two tail sections aft of the attachment points. The attachment points are preferably nodal points of the beam with respect to both a drive mode shape and a sense mode shape of the beam for the resonant mode in which the resonator is configured to operate. Thus, the location where two beams intersect is preferably a nodal point for both beams. The tail sections of each beam allow the resonant mode of the resonator to be carefully configured.

Abstract: The gaming system and method of the present disclosure leverage casino patrons' mobile devices to facilitate directing the patrons exactly to their desired electronic gaming machines (EGMs). In various embodiments, the gaming system includes a central controller communicatively connected to a plurality of EGMs. The central controller receives a request from a patron's mobile device to find a desired one of the EGMs. The central controller causes the desired EGM and the patron's mobile device to output the same patron identifier, such as a patron-created image, and causes the patron's mobile device to use GPS to direct the patron to the vicinity of the desired EGM. Once the patron is within the vicinity of the desired EGM, the patron can quickly scan the surrounding EGMs to determine the one outputting the patron identifier, which is the patron's desired EGM.

  • Patent number: 9927247
Abstract: When a portable device cannot connect to a network, offline navigation directions are generated and displayed by obtaining navigation instructions stored on the portable device which direct a user from a first location to a second location. When a network connection later becomes available, the portable device obtains online navigation directions from the first location to the second location from a navigation server. The portable device updates the offline navigation directions in a least disruptive manner, with information from the online navigation directions by determining the difference between the online and the offline navigation directions. If the online and offline navigation directions are similar, the portable device updates the display with estimated time data, traffic data, etc., from the online navigation directions.

Abstract: A system and method for providing navigational routing. The method includes determining, at a controller, a first route from a first location to a second location, the determination of the first route using a first set of routing rules. The method also includes determining, at the controller, a second route from the first location to the second location, the determination of the second route using a second set of routing rules applicable to public safety vehicles, the second set of routing rules different from the first set of routing rules. The method further includes the steps of accessing, at the controller, route information related to the second route; identifying, at the controller, a preferred route based on the first travel duration, the second travel duration, and the route information; and outputting the identified preferred route.

Abstract: In various example embodiments, a system and method for interactive applications that use location-based information from a light sensor network are presented. In example embodiments, data indicating a destination location inside a geofence is received. The geofence represents a boundary around multiple private beacon nodes, which are associated with a light sensor network, and their associated beacon communications ranges. Navigation and tracking outside the geofence is based on at least one of global positioning system (GPS) signals and beacon signals received by the mobile device from at least one public beacon device within a beacon communications range of the mobile device located outside the geofence. Navigation and tracking inside the geofence is based on the beacon signals received by the mobile device from at least one private beacon node within the beacon communications range of the mobile device located inside the geofence and a virtual map including an area within the geofence.

Abstract: A method detects a particular freeway-ramp-freeway situation in a calculated route and corrects the route by replacing the freeway-ramp-freeway situation with all-freeway segments. The method includes the steps of: establishing a calculated route to a destination; examining the calculated route to detect whether there is a first point where the calculated route exits a freeway and a second point where the calculated route enters a freeway; evaluating map data to determine whether the freeway exited and the freeway entered are the same freeway; and replacing road segments of the calculated route between the first point and the second point constituting the freeway-ramp-freeway situation with freeway segments between the first point and the second point, thereby avoiding the freeway-ramp-freeway situation.

Abstract: In a gyroscopic system, a vibrating gyroscope is controlled in gyrometer mode in a control loop. The control loop corresponds to at least one current control for an operating parameter. In the control loop, a modified control to be applied to the gyrometer for said operating parameter is obtained (11) by introducing a sinusoidal interference into the current control. Then, the modified control is applied (12) to the gyrometer as the current control. A resulting measurement value (13) is determined. A sinusoidal interference (14) is calculated as a function of said measurement value. Lastly, on the basis of the measurement value, it is decided (15) whether to repeat the previous steps on the basis of the sinusoidal interference last determined.
