A safing circuit (50) is copied to the sensor (24) signal and sequestered from the discrimination circuit (42) for determining if the predetermined event occurred. An actuation device is actuates the restraint when both the discrimination circuit (42) and the safing circuit (50) determine the predetermined event occurred.

Abstract: A method for controlling triggering of at least one passenger protection device for a vehicle. The method includes a step of determining whether a signal level of at least one read-in impact signal, which represents a change in a vehicle condition indicating a potential collision of the vehicle with a potential accident object, exceeds an evaluation limiting value. The method also includes a step of using a high triggering threshold value for triggering of the at least one passenger protection device when the signal level of the at least one read-in impact signal exceeds the evaluation limiting value.

  • Patent number: 9937893
Abstract: A restraint system for a vehicle, includes a rotatable reel, a flexible tether, a first shaft and a conductor member. The flexible tether has a first end coupled to the reel and a second end. The tether is wound upon the rotatable reel and movable in both a winding direction and an unwinding direction. The first shaft is configured to be operably coupled to the rotatable reel, and includes a plurality of magnetic elements affixed thereto. The conductor member has a hollow interior. At least a portion of the first shaft and at least a portion of the plurality of magnetic elements are disposed within the hollow interior. Movement of the tether in the unwinding direction causes relative movement between the plurality of magnets and the conductor member. Eddy currents within the conduct member generate a retarding force on the first shaft.

  • Patent number: 9937894
Abstract: A seat belt retractor has a frame, a retracting device and a detection device. The retracting device is mounted on the frame and has a spool and a webbing body. The spool is pivotally connected to the frame. The webbing body is wound on the spool and forms multiple webbing layers around the spool. The detection device is mounted on the frame and has a detecting rod. The detecting rod is restorable, abuts an outermost webbing layer around the spool, and produces a displacement according to the variation in quantity of the webbing layers. The detection device of the seat belt retractor can directly detect a pulled length of the webbing body to know whether the user fastens the seat belt. The seat belt retractor can effectively remind a user to fasten the seat belt.

Abstract: The wiper blade-lifting system comprises a wiper arm with a motorized mechanism to cause the wiper blade to bend at a hinge point responsive to the presence of electrical power. The wiper blade-lifting system is useful to lift a wiper blade off the surface of a windshield when ice or freezing rain is anticipated, so that the wiper blade does not become frozen in place against the surface of the windshield. A second activation of the wiper blade-lifting system using electrical power of the opposite polarity causes the wiper blade to straighten and place the wiper blade back in contact with the windshield. The application of electrical power to the wiper blade-lifting system may be under control of an interior lift control or, in some embodiments, a blade lift remote control.
