Abstract: A method for dynamic dosing of disinfectant solution in a medical device reprocessing system includes calculating a volume of an initial dose of concentrated disinfectant solution for dilution to make a first in-use disinfectant solution. The initial dose of concentrated disinfectant solution is diluted with diluting fluid to make the first in-use disinfectant solution comprising a target concentration of disinfectant agent. The first in-use disinfectant solution is applied to a medical device. A concentration of the disinfectant agent in the first in-use disinfectant solution is then calculated. The actual concentration of the disinfectant agent in the concentrated disinfectant solution is then calculated based upon the concentration of disinfectant agent in the first in-use disinfectant solution. It is then determined whether a volume of a second dose of concentrated disinfectant solution is increased or about the same as the volume of the initial dose to make a second in-use disinfectant solution.

Abstract: Apparatus for use in dialyzing a patient comprising a hemodialysis catheter comprising an elongated body having a proximal and a distal end, wherein the distal end terminates in a substantially planar distal end surface; first and second lumens extending from the proximal end to the distal end, wherein the lumens terminate on the distal end surface in first and second mouths, arranged in side-by-side configuration, and further wherein the lumens are separated by a septum; and first and second longitudinal slots formed in the distal end of the elongated body and communicating with the interiors of the lumens, the slots opening on the distal end surface; wherein the slots each have a length and a width, relative to the dimensions of the lumens and the rate of blood flow to be passed through the hemodialysis catheter, so as to minimize undesirable recirculation of dialyzed blood.

Abstract: A fully-automatic regional citrate anticoagulation machine is disclosed. A sampling portion extracts a blood sample on line and in real time and sends it to a storage purifier for storage and purification. A sample injection portion conveys the blood sample in the blood sample storage purifier to a sample loading slot through a sample injection tube. An assay and analysis portion conveys, through a sample suction tube, the blood sample to an analyzer for blood sample assay and analysis. The sampling portion, the sample injection portion, the assay and analysis portion and an administration portion are connected to the program control portion. The program control portion controls, according to an internally-set program, operation of the sampling portion, the sample injection portion and the assay and analysis portion, and sends an instruction to the administration portion according to the data result obtained by the assay and analysis portion.

Abstract: An implantable system for delivering fluids, such as drugs, to one or more anatomical structures in a patient's (i.e., human or animal) body. A number of medical conditions require continual and/or periodic administration of fluids (e.g., drugs) to target regions (e.g., anatomic organs) of the body. Accessibility to those target regions might be limited technically for ex. and not limited to: frequent endoscopic, radiologically guided or surgical approaches. The system delivers the fluid needed in a continual or intermittent fashion to the target region. It controls the amount of fluid delivered to the target region and measures the intended physiologic effect of the fluid delivered.

Abstract: Some embodiments of a medical infusion pump system include a pump device having a cap device that mates with a pump housing to retain a medicine cartridge therein. In addition to retaining the medicine cartridge in the pump housing, the cap device may perform a number of preparatory functions or safety functions. In addition or in the alternative, some embodiments of the pump device may include a drive system that advances a piston rod to dispense medicine to the patient in a safe and energy efficient manner.

Abstract: A portable infusion pump can communicate with glucose monitor, such as a continuous glucose monitor (CGM), to receive continuous feedback relating to a user's blood glucose level during insulin or other medicament therapy and can automatically deliver insulin to a user when the CGM data indicates a need for additional insulin. Due to potential unreliability in the correlation of the CGM data to the user's actual blood glucose level, risk mitigation can be employed to limit the amount of extra insulin that can be delivered by the pump in response to the CGM data.

Abstract: Systems and methods for mitigating or preventing opioid overdoses are disclosed herein. More specifically, an overdose mitigation system includes an overdose sensor, such as a pulse oximeter, that is strapped around a user's arm in a similar manner as a blood pressure cuff. The system measures an overdose indicator, such as a minimum oxygen saturation level. When the indicator is detected, the system sounds an alarm and automatically injects an opioid antidote (e.g., intramuscularly), via an attached injector with a reservoir containing the antidote, unless an input is received from a user interface. Thus, systems and methods disclosed herein allow for an antidote to be automatically delivered to a user at risk of death from overdose, without having to wait on a first responder or rely on a caregiver.
