Abstract: An micro electro mechanical sensor comprising: a substrate; and a sensor element movably mounted to a first side of said substrate; wherein a second side of said substrate has a pattern formed in relief thereon. The pattern formed in relief on the second side of the substrate provides a reduced surface area for contact with the die bond layer. The reduced surface area reduces the amount of stress that is transmitted from the die bond layer to the substrate (and hence reduces the amount of transmitted stress reaching the MEMS sensor element). Because the substrate relief pattern provides a certain amount of stress decoupling, the die bond layer does not need to decouple the stress to the same extent as in previous designs. Therefore a thinner die bond layer can be used, which in turn allows the whole package to be slightly thinner.

Abstract: The process can be used in any hydrocarbon process in which it is desirable to recover hydrogen. The process can include catalytically reforming a hydrocarbon feed, a paraffin dehydrogenation to produce light olefins or a synthesis gas generating process. There is an effluent stream having hydrogen and hydrocarbons that is first sent to an adsorption zone to produce a pure hydrogen stream and a tail gas stream. The tail gas stream is then sent across a feed side of a membrane having the feed side and a permeate side. The membrane that is selected is selective for hydrogen over one or more C1-C6 hydrocarbons and light ends including CO, CO2, N2 and O2, and withdrawing from the permeate side a permeate stream enriched in hydrogen compared with a residue stream withdrawn from the feed side. The permeate stream is then recycled to be sent through the adsorption zone.

The system includes a phosphates adsorption container having an ingress and an egress and a phosphates adsorption element contained therein for gathering and removing phosphates as phosphates-rich influent water flows through the phosphates adsorption container thereby producing low phosphates concentration effluent water. The system also uses a first solution combining the phosphates gathered from the influent water producing a phosphates-enriched first solution and for restoring high loading capacity for adsorption of phosphates properties and high attraction to phosphates properties of the phosphates adsorption element. The system includes a first solution recovery element for receiving the phosphates-enriched solution and for separating the phosphates from the phosphates-enriched first solution.

Abstract: The method of recycling brine from a multi-stage flash desalination plant recycles the high-salinity, high-temperature brine output from a multi-stage flash desalination plant to produce diluted brine suitable for reinjection back into the multi-stage flash desalination plant as a makeup stream. The high-salinity, high-temperature brine output from the multi-stage flash desalination plant is diluted with water extracted from treated wastewater effluent output from a wastewater treatment plant, thus providing further recycling of the treated wastewater effluent. Following osmotic transfer of the diluting water from the treated wastewater effluent to produce the diluted brine, the remaining concentrated treated wastewater effluent passes through a secondary filtration system to yield a solid product and a volume of permeate water. The volume of permeate water may be further mixed with the diluted brine.

Abstract: A system and method arranged to treat a produced water stream used in chemical enhanced oil recovery. The produced water stream is exposed to ultraviolet light sources that provide a radiant energy dosage that destabilizes organics. The ultraviolet-radiated stream is then passed through an adsorbent polymer media. An oxidant may be added to the ultraviolet-radiated stream ahead of the adsorbent polymer media or to an effluent stream exiting the adsorbent polymer media.

Abstract: Methods and apparatus for cutting a substrate are disclosed. In one arrangement, a plurality of recesses are formed in the surface of the substrate. The recesses as such that a stress can be applied to the substrate that is concentrated by the recesses. The concentrated stress causes the substrate to be cut along a cutting line that passes through the recesses. The cutting occurs via propagation of a crack through the recesses.
