Patent number: 9956909Abstract: Systems and methods are described for monitoring movement of a trailer relative to the towing vehicle and providing driver-assistance information to the driver of the towing vehicle. The system determines a velocity vector for the host vehicle at a location near a rear of the host vehicle at a defined lateral distance from a trailer hitch installed on the host vehicle. The system also determines a velocity vector for the trailer at a corresponding location on the trailer—that is a location on the front of the trailer at approximately the same defined lateral distance from the trailer hitch. The system compares the velocity vector for the host vehicle to the velocity vector for the trailer and determines, based on the comparison, whether a jack-knife condition is likely to occur. If a jack-knife condition is likely to occur, the system generates a warning signal.Type: GrantFiled: November 18, 2014Date of Patent: May 1, 2018Assignee: Robert Bosch GmbHInventors: Jeffrey Allen Bochenek, Jonathan Charles Diedrich, Mark Gehrke

Patent number: 9956948Abstract: A system includes an engine, a motor and a transmission coupled to the engine and the motor and that can be shifted from a first gear ratio to a second gear ratio. The system also includes an ECU that may receive or generate a shift command corresponding to an instruction for the transmission to shift from the first gear ratio to the second gear ratio and may determine a target engine speed corresponding to a desired speed of the engine when the transmission shifts from the first gear ratio to the second gear ratio. The ECU may control the motor to adjust the motor torque such that the motor torque causes the engine speed to become close or equal to the target engine speed and may cause the transmission to shift to the second gear ratio when the engine speed is within a threshold of the target engine speed.Type: GrantFiled: January 25, 2016Date of Patent: May 1, 2018Assignee: TOYOTA MOTOR ENGINEERING & MANUFACTURING NORTH AMERICA, INC.Inventor: Benjamin M. Patent number: 9956949Abstract: A device is disclosed that performs highly accurate control in a low-torque region and improves the response of the hydraulic system, taking advantage of hydraulic sealed-type hydraulic control devices. The hydraulic sealed-type hydraulic control device includes: a first characteristic (sealed pressurization) obtained by closing an on-off valve and driving an oil pump; a second characteristic (sealed depressurization) obtained by disabling drive of the oil pump and opening the on-off valve; and a third characteristic (flow-rate control) obtained by opening the on-off valve and driving the oil pump. In a low-torque region, the device performs control according to the third characteristic. In a high-torque region, the device performs control according to the second characteristic. In the process of depressurization, the device performs control according to the second characteristic.Type: GrantFiled: February 16, 2016Date of Patent: May 1, 2018Assignee: HONDA MOTOR CO., LTD.Inventor: Yuma Yoshida

Patent number: 9956951Abstract: An apparatus and method for controlling cold starting of a mild hybrid vehicle, are disclosed. The method includes: measuring, by a sensor, a cooling water temperature of the vehicle when a request is received to start an engine; operating, by a controller, a starter to drive an engine when the cooling water temperature is less than a preset reference temperature, and stopping the operation of the starter and operating an MHSG to drive the engine when RPM of the engine driven by the starter exceeds a preset reference value. In particular, stepwise starting according to the cold starting of the vehicle is performed. The apparatus and the method are advantageous in that a starter and alternator are simultaneously controlled under a cold starting condition to provide startability and reduce capacity of a starter, reducing manufacturing costs.Type: GrantFiled: December 1, 2016Date of Patent: May 1, 2018Assignee: HYUNDAI MOTOR COMPANYInventors: Hyun Kim, Ki-Hong Kang
