  • Patent number: 9961840
Abstract: A method for supplying heat energy and carbon dioxide for vegetables and/or algae production using exhaust gas. The method includes: 1) introducing the exhaust gas to a primary heat exchanger to conduct a first indirect heat exchange between the exhaust gas and air from a vegetable greenhouse and/or an algae culturing house, thereby providing hot air for the vegetable greenhouse and/or the algae culturing house; 2) introducing part of the exhaust gas after the first indirect heat exchange to a secondary heat exchanger to conduct a second indirect heat exchange between the exhaust gas and outdoor air; 3) introducing the exhaust gas to a CO2 pressure swing adsorption device, separating and pumping carbon dioxide to a carbon dioxide storage tank for storage; and 4) supplying the carbon dioxide to the vegetable greenhouse and/or a carbon-absorption tank of the algae culturing house.

  • Patent number: 9961841
Abstract: An improved method to produce artificial light for plant cultivation, an illumination device with a semiconductor light emission solution and device suited for plant cultivation in a greenhouse environment are described. The best mode is considered to be a lighting device with binary alloy quantum dots (110, 120, 130, 140, 150, 160) made by colloidal methods to produce a size distribution of quantum dots that produces an emission spectrum similar to the photosynthetically active radiation (PAR) spectrum. The methods and arrangements allow more precise spectral tuning of the emission spectrum for lights used in plant (310, 311) cultivation. Therefore unexpected improvements in the photomorphogenetic control of plant growth, and further improvements in plant production are realized.

  • Patent number: 9961843
Abstract: A process for harvesting organic material recovers sugars, proteins, aromatics, organic acids and mixtures thereof, from the sapwood of trees or recently pruned sections, e.g. branches. The process involves drilling entry and exit ports to access the sapwood layer and the use of spiles, driven into the ports, to create fluid tight seals for the tubing, which delivers and recovers the solution, which solubilizes the harvested organic material and flows through the sapwood layer. The close proximity of entry and exit ports permits the flow of a pressurized solution. The recovered pumped solution or products therefrom, if desired, can be used in a fermentation medium to prepare products, e.g. alcohol, fatty acids.

  • Patent number: 9961844
Abstract: A symbiotic aquaponic growth system is a system for growing plants. An aquaculture reservoir holds water and aquatic animals. Water and waste is transported to a filtering germination tray that serves to hold germinating seeds as well as to filter solid waste from the water. Plants are supported in a tubular growing member that rotates due to water flowing from the filtering germination tray onto the tubular growing member. The aquaculture reservoir, the filtering germination tray, and the tubular growing member are contained within an enclosure that may be closed via a lid and a shuttered door. Water is transported from the aquaculture reservoir to the filtering germination tray through a fluid distribution assembly. Water and nutrients are provided to plants in the tubular growing member by dipping the plant roots into the aquaculture reservoir as well by the water falling onto the plant roots from the filtering germination tray.

Abstract: Improvements in an exteriorly mounted cat litter station, called “Kitty Cat Can”, mounts on the exterior of a building to create a bump-out toilet for cats, which live indoors. It is installed against an opening through a wall so cats can go back and forth without leaving the house. A hinged roof slops with long eave extensions and covers the screened slots at the top of the outer container for water tightness. This seamless unit mounts, held by its own weight, onto an integrated horizontal ledger hook which has been installed on the exterior of a dwelling. Optional openings in the back provide flexibility upon installation. A secondary high-walled reusable container fits snuggly inside and is held in place by the removable passage sleeve. Liner and sleeve stay in place for routine litter raking, although if more aggressive cleaning is desired, the sleeve and liner lift out completely.

Abstract: The motorized animal-grooming brush is adapted for use with animals. The motorized animal-grooming brush is a rotating brush that is driven by an electric drive that is separated in distance from the rotating brush. The motorized animal-grooming brush comprises a brush device, an electric drive, and a drive line. The electric drive provides a motive force through the drive line to the brush device. The brush device receives the motive force from the electric drive and uses this motive force to rotate the grooming brush. The separation by distance between the electric drive and the rotating brush reduces the level of noise heard by the animal.

Abstract: A pet toy with one or more treat holding receptacles is provided. A receptacle generally conforms to the outer surface or shape of the pet toy, and extends into the interior of the pet toy for holding a primary treat. The receptacle has a plurality of interior engaging surfaces that frictionally hold the primary treat in a desired orientation. An opening is formed through the receptacle for loading secondary treats into an interior of the pet toy. The primary treat has an exposed portion shaped and sized to provide a desired degree of difficulty for an animal to remove the primary treat from the corresponding receptacle. The portion of the primary treat in contact with the engaging surfaces of the receptacle forms a cap or closure, and when all or part of the primary treat is removed, the secondary treats may be dispensed through the opening of the receptacle.

Abstract: A tether apparatus for connecting a dog to a bike for running with the bike. The tether comprises a continuously flexible wand with a bow-like curvature in a vertical plane and an S-curvature in a horizontal plane. The wand is attached to a bike frame at front and mid-points, and a tail end is spaced to the rear and side of the bike. The tail end includes a short vertical harness connector hanging freely from the tail end for vertical attachment to a dog's collar or harness from above. A dog is accordingly tethered under the tail end of the wand, spaced to the rear and side of the bike, with the flexible wand absorbing shock and load when the dog's position and speed differ relative to the bike.

Abstract: Improvements in a retractable Snap-On Leash is disclosed. The Snap-on Leash is always on the collar and can be used on nearly any collar that is available in the market place. This further allows the retractable snap-on leash to be removed and placed on a different collar when as the animal grows and when the collar wears out or is damaged. The owner simply needs to locate the handle to extend the leash. A lanyard retainer, stop or lock can be incorporated to limit the extension length less than the length of the leash spooled in the housing. The retracting mechanism allows the leash to be retracted automatically at the end of a walk or as the dog changes distance from the owner. The handle conforms to the shape of the housing to minimize a surface that can catch on anything that the dog might encounter.

  • Patent number: 9961884
Abstract: A look-up table is defined by at least one reference point, and rows and columns that are offset from the reference. The table rows and columns correspond to ordinate and abscissa data points representing geographic locations. Each data point offset in the table corresponds to a predefined geographic offset. The look-up table contains machine-stored values at each table location, with each value representing a particular one of several guidance zones. Each guidance zone is associated with behavioral guidance provided to an animal. Real-time determination of a current guidance zone is made by first determining present location. The corresponding table location is identified by calculating latitudinal and longitudinal offsets from a reference point, and using these offsets as the two indices to access a double-indexed array. The offsets are selectively subjected to a scalar conversion to accommodate large land areas while limiting the amount of memory required to store the table.
