Abstract: A method for generating a virtual jaw image includes performing a movement recording method to obtain a movement record which comprises producing at least one position data record over a defined time. A position data record describes a spatial position of a lower jaw to an upper jaw at a specific time. Surface sections of the upper and lower jaw are scanned at the defined time during the movement recording method to obtain a spatial relation of the surface sections during the defined time. Digital upper and lower jaw images are recorded. A position data record of a virtual position of the digital lower jaw image is assigned to the digital upper jaw image. A position data record is selected to obtain a selected position data record. The digital lower and upper jaw images are virtually aligned based on the selected position data record to produce the virtual jaw image.

  • Patent number: 9999499
Abstract: A preloaded intraocular lens (IOL) system/method utilizing haptic compression is disclosed. The disclosed system/method utilizes an IOL packaged in a compressed state that is inserted into a patient using a cartridge and lumen through which the IOL is advanced. Within this context the haptics to the IOL are wrapped around the IOL in a coplanar fashion during the loading of the IOL to permit the IOL to be shipped and stored in a compressed state. This compressed state is achieve by wrapping the haptics of the IOL during the manufacturing process to ensure that the IOL is properly aligned and thus delivered in a predetermined orientation within the patient's eye. This compressed packaging of the IOL permits a more uniform and consistent placement of the IOL in the patient and eliminates the potential for physician error during the critical IOL placement procedure.

  • Patent number: 9999503
Abstract: The invention is a system and method for accurately positioning a prosthetic valve such as a prosthetic heart valve at a desired position for deployment. The invention includes extendable positioning elements which provide tactile feedback to a user to confirm proper positioning of the catheter with respect to the native valve annulus. During delivery, the extendable positioning elements lie against the catheter, over the prosthetic valve and expandable balloon, providing a low profile for advancing the catheter to the desired treatment location via small passages such as body lumens. Prior to valve deployment, the positioning elements are extended and brought into contact with tissue of the native annulus to confirm the proper positioning of the delivery system and prosthetic valve.

  • Patent number: 9999526
Abstract: A self-aligning prosthetic foot and ankle assembly has an ankle unit pivotally mounting a foot component. The ankle unit contains a hydraulic piston and cylinder assembly having a piston which is linearly movable within a cylinder. The axis of the cylinder is coincident with a shin axis defined by a shin connection interface on the ankle unit. Bypass passages containing damping resistance control valves provide continuous hydraulic damping of dorsi and plantar ankle flexion, the unit being such that, over the major part of the range of damped movement, there is no resilient biasing in either the dorsi or the plantar direction. This confers a number of advantages, including stabilization of standing, balance control, and improved stair-walking and ramp-walking.

Abstract: A scaffold includes a radiopaque marker connected to a strut. The marker is retained within the strut by one or more of a mechanical interference fit, a polymer coating or melt, and/or by friction. The marker can take the form of a bead, rivet or snap-in marker, or a tube deformed when attached to the strut. The strut is made from a tube. The strut has a thickness of about 100 microns.

  • Patent number: 9999529
Abstract: A stent is formed from a wire that in cross-section includes an outer member having a lumen and a radiopaque core member partially filling the lumen. A substance for elution through openings formed through the outer member fills the portion of the lumen not filled by the radiopaque core member. In a method of forming the stent, a composite wire including an outer member and a dual core member is shaped into a stent pattern. The dual core member includes a first core member and a second, radiopaque core member. The shaped composite wire is processed to remove the first core member from the outer member without adversely affecting the outer member and the second core member. The portion of the lumen that was occupied by the first core member may be filled with a substance for elution through openings from through the outer member to the lumen.

  • Patent number: 9999530
Abstract: A system precise stent deployment in synchronization with the cardiac cycle includes a cable set having a first connector for connection to a source of a signal that is indicative of the status of the cardiac cycle, and a second connector for connection to a processor. The processor converts cardiac cycle data into a control signal for controlling inflation of a balloon catheter such that the balloon catheter reaches inflation at a point within the range of from about 55% to about 85% into the R-R interval. An inflation pump is provided for inflating the balloon responsive to the control signal. A third connector is in communication with the inflation pump, for releasable connection to the balloon catheter.
