  • Patent number: 10029688
Abstract: A stop/start hybrid vehicle includes an engine configured for stopping and restarting during travel, a multiple-ratio transmission, a brake pedal, and an electronic parking brake. The transmission can be shifted into reverse gear either when the brake pedal is applied or unapplied. At least one controller is programmed to control the vehicle under these scenarios. If the engine is off and the brake pedal is applied when the transmission is shifted into reverse, the controller restarts the engine. If the engine is off and the brake pedal is unapplied when the transmission is shifted into reverse, the controller inhibits the engine from restarting until the brake pedal is applied. The controller can also be programmed to apply the electronic parking brake while the brake pedal remains unapplied after a predetermined time from the transmission being shifted into the reverse gear.

  • Patent number: 10029689
Abstract: A control apparatus applied to a hybrid vehicle of the invention executes a regeneration control for charging a battery with electricity generated by a motor generator while applying regeneration braking force to the vehicle from the motor generator. The apparatus executes an enlarged regeneration control for charging the battery with the electricity generated by the motor generator while applying increased regeneration braking force to the vehicle from the motor generator when a target deceleration end position is set. The apparatus executes a control for controlling a vehicle speed to a speed equal to or smaller than an upper limit speed when a control execution request is generated. The apparatus forbids the enlarged regeneration control when the control execution request is generated and the vehicle speed is equal to or larger than a threshold vehicle speed smaller than the upper limit speed.

  • Patent number: 10029691
Abstract: A hybrid drive includes a combustion engine, a generator driven by the combustion engine, a charge storage unit, and an electric engine. The hybrid drive can be driven in a load point shifting mode, a recuperation mode, and a boost mode. In the load point shifting mode, a power or torque distribution regulator specifies the torques supplied by the combustion engine and the electric engine in the sense of a maintenance of a predetermined theoretical value of the charging state of the charge storage unit. The theoretical value of the charging state of the charge storage unit is shifted in the load point shifting mode, as a function of the charging state changes of the charge storage unit in a previously carried out recuperation or boost mode.

  • Patent number: 10029692
Abstract: A vehicle drive system includes an internal combustion engine, a clutch, an engine rotation speed detector, an output shaft rotation speed detector, and a processor. The internal combustion engine includes cylinders and a crankshaft. The clutch is connected to the crankshaft via a torsion element and includes an output shaft. The engine rotation speed detector detects a crankshaft rotation speed. The output shaft rotation speed detector detects an output shaft rotation speed. The processor is configured to calculate a torque generated in each of the cylinders based on the crankshaft rotation speed. The processor is configured to decrease transmission torque of the clutch so that a difference between the crankshaft rotation speed and the output shaft rotation speed to be a target value when misfiring occurs. The processor is configured to identify a misfiring cylinder among the cylinders based on the torque calculated while the transmission torque is decreased.

Abstract: A prolonged release system having a locking member pivotally mounted on a post within a hand brake and having an arm that contacts a clutch assembly to prevent the clutch assembly of the handbrake from engaging after it has been manually released. Rotation of the hand brake wheel causes a pawl on a ratchet gear to move into contact with a cam of the locking member so that the arm of the locking member moves out of contact with the clutch assembly. By maintaining the clutch assembly in a released position, the prolonged release system ensures that the brake chain drum is decoupled from the driveshaft of the hand brake and prevents the inadvertent application of the brakes. When a user turns the hand brake wheel, the locking member is disengaged from the clutch assembly and the hand brake can be set by a user.

Abstract: A steering assembly includes a steering wheel having a convenience feature, an environmental detection system, and a controller in communication with an autonomous vehicle. The steering wheel is selectively coupled to a steering shaft and is movable between a deployed position and a retracted position. The environmental detection system is configured to provide a cabin environmental signal. The controller is programmed to move the steering wheel towards the retracted position and operatively decouple the steering wheel from the steering shaft, while the steering wheel is in the deployed position and in response to a request to activate an advanced driver assist system and the cabin environmental signal indicating a clear path of travel of the steering wheel.

  • Patent number: 10029726
Abstract: A electric power steering device includes a basic return command value calculation unit configured to calculate a basic return command value in a direction to return a steering wheel to a neutral position on the basis of a steering angle of the steering wheel, a return command value calculation unit configured to calculate a return command value by correcting the basic return command value by the first correction gain, and an opposite return command value calculation unit configured to calculate an opposite return command value in a direction not to return the steering wheel to the neutral position on the basis of an angular acceleration of an electric motor. A correction return command value is calculated on the basis of the return command value and the opposite return command value and the electric motor is driven by adding the correction return command value to the assist command value.

Abstract: A rotating electric machine control device includes a first system controller and a second system controller, an overheat protection controller and an abnormality detector. The overheat protection controller includes a temperature estimator and a restricted current calculator. The temperature estimator estimates system temperatures as well as other temperature, including a shared component temperature of a shared component that is connected to both of plural systems in a shared manner. The restricted current calculator calculates restricted current values, based on the system temperatures and the shared component temperature. At least one of the system temperatures, the shared component temperature, and/or the restricted current values is changed from an all-systems normal time, when at least one of a plurality of systems is abnormal.

  • Patent number: 10029728
Abstract: A vehicle adaptive steering control apparatus includes a front wheel steering mechanism having a right wheel steering portion and a left wheel steering portion that are independently operable relative to one another. A load detection device measures a condition indicative of vehicle loads at one of the following: the left and right suspension structures and the front wheel steering mechanism. A controller in electronic communication with a steer-by-wire steering wheel assembly, the front wheel steering mechanism and the load detection device, calculates toe angle adjustments for each of the right wheel steering portion and the left wheel steering portion in response to determining a load on each of a left front wheel and a right front wheel based on signals from the load detection device. The controller further makes the toe angle adjustments via changes in turning and steering movements effected by the front wheel steering mechanism.

  • Patent number: 10029732
Abstract: A first structure extends to a forward side of a cross-member of a vehicle frame with a first gap being defined between the first structure and the cross-member. A second structure extends rearward from the cross-member with a second gap defined between the second structure and the cross-member. An attachment bracket fixed to the cross-member retains one of the first and second structures. The attachment bracket is configured to maintain one of the first gap and the second gap in a non-impacted state. In response to an impact event where a stationary barrier impacts forward of the first structure, impacting forces cause movement of the one of the first structure and the second structure relative to the attachment bracket thereby bringing at least the one of the first structure and the second structure into contact with the cross-member closing the corresponding one of the first gap and the second gap.
