  • Patent number: 10030656
Abstract: A variable displacement vane pump has a pressure controlled valve moveable between first and at least second valve positions based on an output pressure of the pressurized lubricant delivered through the outlet. The pressure controlled valve provides an integrated fail safe function to the pump when an electrical valve fails. The pressure controlled valve is inactive in the first position for an output pressure below a threshold level, allowing an electrical valve (current, solenoid, pulse width modulation (PWM) valve) to selectively control pressure in the control chamber under normal operation of the pump. In fail safe regulation mode, the electrical valve function is disabled and the pressure controlled valve is active in its second position, controlling pressure in the control chamber. Channels and vents in the pump can be opened and closed based on selective movement of the valve when the outlet pressure is at or above a threshold level.

  • Patent number: 10030666
Abstract: The use of externally-pressurized porous media in shaft sealing for turbomachinery is provided for single seals, tandem seals, double-opposed seals, and a ventless seal. These arrangements provide for significant benefits, such as the following: (a) external pressurization allows frozen seal faces to lift open before rotation, (b) pressure is distributed uniformly across the seal face, as opposed to allowing leakage to pass over it, (c) low flow rates of injected gas are possible, (d) the seal faces are self-defending due to the uniform pressure in the gap, and (e) complete elimination of venting process gas is possible. By employing externally-pressurized porous media sealing, a drastic simplification of seal design, as well as gas treatment and seal panel design, is possible.

The separator element is moveable within the vessel in response to a volume change of the first fluid received from the hydraulic line. The relief valve is configured to selectively release the second fluid from the vessel in response to a pressure of the first fluid exceeding a pre-determined amount of pressure within the hydraulic vessel.

  • Patent number: 10030678
Abstract: A pressure compensated load sense hydraulic system and method is disclosed where a first pressure compensated valve controls flow between a pump and a first function based on a highest function load; and a second pressure compensated valve controls flow between the pump and a second function based on the highest function load. First and second operator controls activate the first and second functions, respectively. When the first function is stalled and the second function is activated, the controller closes the first valve to remove the first function load from the load sense circuit and prevent flow to or from the first function. The controller can determine the first function is stalled when a timer exceeds an initialization period. When the controller closes the first valve, it can cycle the first valve between a shutoff period where the valve is closed, and a refresh period where the valve is opened.

  • Patent number: 10030685
Abstract: It has become apparent that the dimensions of inbuilt-collar driving means of the same nominal size may vary according to the method of manufacture. The dimensions of the collar must therefore be adapted to suit the mode of manufacture, at the expense of its strength or mass. Moreover, the transmissible torque for tightening and loosening operations varies according to a useful wrenching height. In order to have a useful height identical to the height of the shank, the idea underlying the invention involves pushing the frustoconical collar of a driving means in towards its center along the extension of the sides of the shank. The inbuilt-collar driving means of the invention is suited to all modes of manufacture, and can be manufactured without adversely affecting the dimensions of the driving means or its installation.
