Abstract: Systems and methods for robotic path planning are disclosed. In some implementations of the present disclosure, a robot can generate a cost map associated with an environment of the robot. The cost map can comprise a plurality of pixels each corresponding to a location in the environment, where each pixel can have an associated cost. The robot can further generate a plurality of masks having projected path portions for the travel of the robot within the environment, where each mask comprises a plurality of mask pixels that correspond to locations in the environment. The robot can then determine a mask cost associated with each mask based at least in part on the cost map and select a mask based at least in part on the mask cost. Based on the projected path portions within the selected mask, the robot can navigate a space.

Abstract: Robot 1 includes an upper base body 10, and a control section 13 provided inside the upper base body 10. The control section 13 causes measurement section 205c to rotate in a left-right direction around yaw axis, by driving each drive section 205b of two LRFs 205. When passage width necessary for the robot 1 to pass through is W, the control section 13 causes each measurement section 205c to rotate in a range (W/2), by driving each drive section 205b of the two LRFs 205. LRF scanning speed/range calculation section 71 calculates rotation angle ?swing and a rotation speed Vswing of the measurement section 205c. The control section 13 drives the drive sections 205b so as to cause the measurement section 205c to rotate at the rotation angle ?swing and the rotation speed Vswing calculated by the LRF scanning speed/range calculation section 71.

Abstract: A universal object holding mechanism for holding three-dimensional objects for printing thereon uses multiple conformable balls mounted within a pattern of holes in a two part back plate. The multiple conformable balls are pressed into an object which in turn is pressed against a datum surface that represents desired spacing away from print heads. Vacuum is applied to the multiple conformable balls which grip the object. The multiple conformable balls are filled with particulates that cause the multiple conformable balls to become rigid when the vacuum is applied. This contributes to keeping the object from moving when it is being moved past a print head.

Abstract: A system comprises a tank, a number of actuators, and an index table. The tank is configured to hold a fluid. The tank has a bottom, a number of walls, and an open top end. The number of actuators is configured to move the tank in a direction perpendicular to the bottom of the tank. The index table is configured to hold a workpiece above the open top end such that movement of the tank in the direction perpendicular to the bottom of the tank moves the tank towards or away from the workpiece.

Abstract: A chainsaw having a drive motor. The chainsaw has a fixed part and a movable part. The guide bar is retained on the fixed part in a manner braced between the fixed part and a tensioning element. The movable part is shiftable in a longitudinal direction with respect to the fixed part in order to tension the saw chain with the tensioning element released. The chainsaw has a stop face and a tensioning face. At least one additional contact face that is firmly connected to the fixed part in the longitudinal direction and at least one additional contact face that is firmly connected to the movable part in the longitudinal direction are arranged between the stop face and the tensioning face. All the contact faces lie one after another in the flux of force from the tensioning element to the fixed part.
